    HiXmCoil option on BTL

It's better just to have it. It's worth it to spend the extra 20.00 and be done with it.

    Nightshade 18"?

Version 1 was, yes. The currently built Nightshades are still rated 1500rms. Yes they've been known to take more but the rating remains the same. Anyone running 3kwatts or better should do so with caution. And they don't need 3kwatts to get loud. 2kwatts is plenty. I would attach a lower rating to any sub I built just because there are many woodchucks out there that think the amp gain is a volume knob and they wonder why they keep blowing their chit. I've had customers in the past who blew subs because the gain was cranked all the way up 99% of the time.

I know I have a car audio addiction when......

My experience: Built a shed, filled it up with audio stuff, built another, filled it up and now filling #3... Jigsawing new beautyboards in a motel bathroom at 2am for Regionals the next day when my judging time was at 7am. All while drinking too much. Wiring a head unit when sitting at a red light. Wood glue makes that bloody cut go right away. When MDF dust gets in your chili fries...but it's all good. Phone bill or subwoofer......hard choice. Sleeping on the floor of the demo van with 12 15's going full tilt while the hung over co-pilot drives home. (yes, it's possible. I and others have done this.) Getting another amp instead of fixing the tranny. Building different enclosures for different rides for the same subs and using them for furniture, hampers, doghouses, etc Finishing a big install on a hot day and Windexing your pits so you can hurry up and get to the Titty Bar before happy hour ends. Cooking your lunch with a heat gun. I actually built a heat-gun oven for this purpose and still use it to this day. I've done many things in 20 years of competing and installing, seen & done alot of strange chit. That's what makes this industry fun. Now that the industry is going back into the hands of the independents, we have a chance to make it like it was when I started. It was fun and enjoyable for all and everyone could relate to it.
  4. x2 i really like batcap Find yourself a Batcap 8400 with charger. We built a system with the 16 volt model that pushed 2 Zapco 9.0s running 8 CV 15's close to 160db. Just 1 Batcap, not bad eh?

Anyone a fan of Zapco? Has anyone ever used the product, sold it, installed it?

    1000 dB!

It was Krakatoa in Indonesia. It blew in 1883 and sent a shock wave around the earth 7 times. The sound was at 180db from 100 miles away, injuring ships crews in the area, and the bang was heard 3,000 miles away. The sound killed whoever or whatever wasn't burned or drowned. Wasn't a good day.

Fi BTL 18" or Addictive Audio?

I would go with the BTL if I were you. It's been a few years since I dealt with Addictive Audio but from what I remember they were an OK but not outstanding product. They were carried in our shop but were outsold by Cerwin Vega and Zapco. I haven't heard of them since until I read this post. Anyway, Fi is the better choice. You'll be much better off.

That logo that looks like a "2:"

The oddest ? ever: All over the forum I see this little logo that looks like a 2:" I want to etch this in lexan for one of my boxes but I want to make sure it is a company logo for the Fi brand , not a team logo so I don't step on someone's toes. Thanks.

    22inch Fi

Atomic makes a 24 but it really is nothing but a glorified guitar amp speaker. A BTL 12 would beat it down. As for the MTX Jock Hummer, the fact that it weighs 360 lbs and carries the 7K price tag just shows it's not competitive with pretty much anything. The BTL 22, I think will come in under 100 lbs and perform exceptionally well. I would like to see what other companies will come up with as an answer to it. I want 2!

    1000 dB!

1000 db isn't possible. If the earth exploded you would get something that split atoms bit by that point it wouldn't matter.

That logo that looks like a "2:"

Did not know that. Reading sheet music was never my strong point.

Yep, that's it. I was only able to see that site in RSS mode until now. Thanks.

    Stereo Bikes

But it wasn't like these. I expected 2 12's from these guys in the clip, not whole mobile club systems.

Hooking up two amps to one sub

I was building boxes while some of you were still up the pipe. I started audio in 1989.

    Quad Stacked Magnet

There's no real point to having 4 slugs. It would look cool but have no functionality. Scott has shown that 1 slug is all we need. Could you imagine a BTL 18 with 4 slugs? They're heavy anyway.

    time to lose weight.

i smoke like a old train Bigjon, Here's some extra motivation for you and other forum members. What is your blood pressure? Everyone here should get that checked. I'm not as large as you, being 5'10" an 260 lbs in October of last year when I was hospitalized for extreme hypertension. I checked in with a BP reading of 265/202, was speed-dripped and now have to take 3 pills a day for that and lose weight quickly. I am down to 220 lbs and all seems to be working but from what the doctor told me they see many more of these cases than they used to. So while you are losing the weight keep the BP on the burner as that is the best indicator of your overall health. Hope this helps.
  22. Disregard topic. Found a batcap 8400 on ebay, this will do everything I need it to.
  23. I am thinking of using a Powermaster d3100 as an extra battery just for the 3k. i can't really change out the alternator as the truck is under warranty and I don't want to tamper with it and void the warranty. It's in an 05 F-150. All wiring is 0 guage. Here's what I need to know: I know that the amp-hour measurement is the most important, as anything above 120 or so is the bare minimum this amp needs. Also, how do I go about setting this up with the D3100 and the stock battery w/out cooking my alternator? I haven't done much with multi-battery setups so I want to make sure this is done right. OR, how would I set this up where the truck runs on 12V and the system on 16V? This is different from past setups that I built. I used to sell Batcap 8400's and was a Zapco retailer for several years. I'm now on a budget so the Batcap is out of the question so this is kind of new to me. Thanks for your help on this.

Call UPS to file a claim. They are pretty good about resolving these.
