Need help from Electrical Gurus
jntar posted a topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
So I get to the alt shop and talk to the guy. We test my alt with a clamp meter and a volt meter. Here is the results. No accesories 12.7@600rpm 13.9@700rpm 14.5@900+rpm Acc on (no stereo, just lights and A/C) 11.8@600rpm 13.6@700rpm 14.5@900+rpm Now here is the part that gets me. The alt shop told me that I do not need a smaller pully. Shop: "You need another battery and an isolator." Me: Why??? Shop: You have plenty of amps but low voltage. Me: OK, another battery run by itself is going to help? Shop: Sure it will... Me: please explain this to me? Shop: the second battery will no longer be tied to any of the other accories in your truck. Me: thats fine and all, but when the other amps are installed the voltage will again drop even lower having to charge the same accories, the second battery, and the new amp. Thus wouldnt the voltage drop even lower? Shop: no that is where the second battery helps out. Me: Wouldnt a smaller pully do the exact same thing and cost me a hell of a lot less time, money, and effort? Shop: no... It goes round and round like that. Over and over again. What should I do? Pully (cost ~$100 total) Or Isolator, battery, and battery tray (Isolator for ~200amps $250, battery $150, tray $50, labor $ oh chit...) HELP!!! -
You know that they have virtual PC right? you can run many programs on a mac now. Aaron, my upgrade to a G5 is on hold. I am also VERY happy with my G4. To anyone thinking of buying a Mac...hold off for a while. Next year Apple will be using intel chips, only about 15-20% of the software will be compatable. It would be best to hold off. Aaron can you imagine, a dual 3.33 Ghz power mac??? Or whatever is the largest processors they have out by then <{POST_SNAPBACK}> wait a sec, how does the new Intel chips affect compatability of upcomming software, or do you mean existing software? anyway the new G5 is crazy fast and stable <{POST_SNAPBACK}> No, No...existing. Say you own a G4 now. I use Digital Performer a BUNCH for my recording. If wont be compatable on the new version. I will have to buy the new version of DP when it comes out. Same may go with any other software you purchase now.

I have heard/seen different. The first HCCA I had was sold to a friend. I installed it @1ohm the bass would hit and drop the car to a very ow voltage. Eventually one day it went up n smoke. We called Orion and that is what the tech explained to me had happened. I dont know... -
Only thing that I can think of is that the eclipse is wanting to pull more current so your ground isnt strong enough. Or your remote may not be strong enought to turn it on. I dont really know.

Quickest responce from him yet... My reply too. I understand and I am not blaming you for MY lack of research. Any thing you can do would be great, honestly if you cant do anything keep the alternator. -Justin --- nathan peddicord <[email protected]> wrote: > I will check it out and see what I can do to get > it to cut on sooner. I pucking quit!!! My last email to Nathan... Pully is as small as I can get, only other options are crank pully or have the other shop open it up. Neither of which I want to have done. I will be uninstallng it tonight and sending it back to you. Take a look at it when you get it back. If you find nothing wrong with it then I guess I am SOL. I you will be so kind as to refund me that would be great. I not I understand, at that point you may keep your alt and I will have someone local build me one. Sorry that I have been a pain or caused you any trouble. My next and final email should have your tracking number. Thanks, Justin Tillery -

Reccomend for him to take it to a shop and have them install it. Tell him that the amp worked perfeclty fine when you tested it and that you are not responcible for incorrect installation. -
Greatest Passenger Car Engine of last 25 Years
jntar replied to Aaron Clinton's topic in Automotive and Performance
Chevy 5.0 and 5.7l-Both blocks have been used in chevys lineup for over 50 years. Very dependably, with plenty of power torque capabilities. Switching from carb to Injected in the early 80's added to power, torque, fuel effency and dependability. (Dont kill me for this one guys..) Ford 300cu.in. inline 6. This motor was used in most fo the light to medium duty ford trucks in the late 70's to the early 90's. Extremly dependable motor with tons of torque. Easily matched up to the fod 4 speed manual with granny low (dont remember the model) made for an excellent towing/hauling truck. EDIT: damn you Kent for beating meon this one. Not a motor but the car in general...The Honda Insight. First production hybrid. Opened the door for the future of all vehicle travel for the future. -
