Are they any good? The guy who inspects my vehicle's told me that is what I wanted to go with for what I was doing. He has replaced pistons and rings 4 times in these old 242 blocks for the same reason I am.

Not sure if that answers the question though.

Piston skirt chatter is common in these older 242 motors.

We did run a hone in the bore's to make sure there was nothing we could not see.

The bore looks and feels good. We are surprised, but the guys on the Jeep forum say that is common. It is not uncommon to have these old skirts break off. Most guys just replace the broken one and keep going.

The best part is your alive and will heal. We all have set backs, but as long as you go back to moving iron look at it as a need break to keep you from plateauing.

X2, good job Neal. I'm not looking forward to opening up an engine again though. Probably when the time comes I will build up a spare engine for the Miata. Thanks Adrian. Once I have the pistons out and the block cleaned up I will take another pic for you.

    Welcome to the IHoP v.2

Made good progress on the jeep today. Tomorrow I will have all the pistons out, block cleaned up, and then I hope the parts show up Friday. That way I can take them to work and press the bearings out of the connecting rods. Not certain yet, but I may have to machine a jig to hold it while pressing. Going to check out you tube. I will post some pictures later.

I am not saying the new movie sucks, but it no longer follows the original story. So if you have read the books like I have you will be dissapointed.
