curious why a smaller suround looks like it would be capable of similar excursion as the icon just less powerhandling. the magnet stack is just as tall and the basket looks the same so mechanically wouldnt it have the same capabilitys. -

if there is not a loose connection somewhere id say you need a new alt or rebuild. -
but not finished sub pic i wanna see the subs with all the seats back in and amp installed. definatley some vids of them moving and the roof floping around to.
-
just a big black wall. where are the subs, come on gotta see sub subs. and where is the vid.

where is this going to be used the tv or computer. if the tv i would suggest a 3.1 the center channel is an important channel for movies for a nice full sound. id also suggest a nice reciever capable of 5.1 if you later decided to upgrade. $300 is a bit on the lower side for a 3.1 plus reciever but im sure it could be done.

depends what amp do you plan on using and what will the box look like size tuning

yup a couple threads dont work and some open but no content -
mdf is recommended for long flat surfaces so just build what you can in mdf and fiberglass what you need to.

any teaser pics

a pair of loaded bl's can take a 3000d and unless you have a killler electrical dont bother.
-
the btl is a great sub you could give it less than rated rms power and be happy but to see its full potential you will need a strong amp and elctrical system costing a lot of money the bl would save you money and reach its full potential with less power. however the hightshade and saz1500d combo is a great deal and just as good as the bl. without doing major electrical upgrades the saz1500 is the biggest amp i would recommend.
-
the re xxx has a ton of xmax really low fs and a lot of power handling. this was done so it would be a great sq sub in a seal box capable of really low frequency output. could you use it in a ported box sure but the xmax becomes useless and there are much better subs for ported use. the re mt is there ported spl sub. and i believe the btl is better.
-
what would make 1 12" re xxx better than 1 15" nightshade.
-
so what yor going to spend 1100 on two 12's. what about amp if you want to give them rated power that 4kwrms your looking at a min 1000dollar amp plus cost of upgraded alt and couple batts puts you in the 3000+ ballpark more than double what you wanted to spend
-
two 12's has potential to get louder but will cosgt more money. if your looking for a good deal look in the shop for the package deal nightshade 15 and saz1500d. have a custom box built buy fisher or pound that sound and upgrade your wires to 1/0 and do the big three possibly add a battery to the back. should be nice and loud and fit the budget.
-
remember the enclosure is the most important part of putting up big numbers. what type of vehicle is it going in and how much room are you willing to give up. a total budget would be best. what does your electrical look like. do you plan on playing music or just for comps, yes there is a huge diffrence.
-
what are the specs on your amp the newer 2400d's are only rated at 1200wrms
-
to bad they are out of stock. thats why i said to look for used.
-
the most important part is the box.changing out your sub on same power wont get you much differnt mic readings on that budget get the hdc3 and the extra money put to getting as large an amp as possible but you will need an electrical that can handle it if you had more money for an amp that could run more power then a loaded btl. look for a used aq2200d if possible.
-
they are techincally one + one - just have more room to add wire
-
if making a strictly one note box you want to make it as large as possible with a lot of port area but the max size you can make the box depends on how far you power will push the sub at that frequency.the reason why a lot of competetors use small boxes is because of the huge amount of power they throw at them. i would try building a box the largest reccomended size fi has tuned just below the vehicle freq 2-3hz with a lot of port area and try that if you dont come close to the mechanical limits of the sub make another box a little larger until you are just under the mechanical limits of the sub.
-
whats wrong with the tweets that came with the cvl's did you hook up the cross over and amp it. if the seem a little to strong have you tried adjusting them on the cross over.
-
everything looks good how much room you have to use for a box will determine 15's or 18's
