Electrical Upgrade
dbjunior replied to sandsnip3r's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
with that much power it would drain the cap instantley and just create more stress on your electrical. how large is your stock alt? if it's 110 or larger a second battery should be enough as long as your not heavy with the volume knob all the time. a yellow top is ok for a starting bat but id reccomend a kinetic 2400 or similar bat for a second bat -
a good solid setup that will not disapoint. get a custom enclosure from thumper 2.5cu slot port tuned to 33hz. a fi ssd flatwound coil. and an opti 1000d from db-r.com should cost about 700 or less and is a great setup.

to be diffrent and loud 4 e8's would be sick off a saz1500d hey dont need much for a ported box .5cu each tuned to like 36hz would bang hard to.
-
i would not suggest 2 12's id loog for a pair of 10's or single 12 with the space you have availble. if you look at all the boxes they offer you get a most 2.3cu minus sub and port displacement and you get very little space. the space for a pair of bl 12's is much larger.

that back wall does not look healthy. blow through? i think you cut to much strength out of it id suggest welding some square tubing all over it. you get better output in the cab with less flex.
-
it should be fine just make sure you use a couple layers and enough bracing. look at a couple wall build logs like the mini cooper it will give you a good idea what you are getting yourself into.

try setting your sub crossover at 125hz if it has higher go higher. the lowpass filter on the amp turn all the way up 250hz or so if you have any freq from 80- 500hz on the eq boost them and lower the (sub) 80hz range. this should help increase the midbass a little but will also ruin the imagine. your best bet is to get a great set of midbass drivers and locate them up front added on to your set something in the kicks would work if you have room or in the door and relocate your midrange to the kick.

not trying to be an ass but why do you care about the 20's almost all music is 30hz+. not many companys do quad coils try re mt atomic apx and apxx rd audio heavyweight and superheavy weight all those have quad coil options.

The best bang for buck head unit

either of theses would be my choice on a budget depending on what you are looking for hu 1 hu 2 more so number 2 for crossover and eq ability. -
lets talk about protect mode...

you shouldnt have to pull the sub out to check just check the speaker wire on the outside of box. i doubt it's the power wire causing the problem. does it have good ventilation, possibly overheating. if you are seeing low voltage at the amp check it again at the main battery. if there is a huge diffrece you might have a bad ground or something. if the are both low its not you power wire it's most likely a bad alt or battery, could also be a bad connection from the alt to battery or a ground up front. try cleaning all the connections with a wire brush. -

4g should be more than enough to handle that amp. 4g should handle 1k-1.2kw 600w should be a problem. have you checked the voltage at the amp to make sure that is why its shutting down. have you checked all your connections, what is you sub wired to -
not true the higher you go the more effiecent the box 4th order 6th order and 8th order bandpass but the designs are complicated and very large if you want to play music. if its for a daily design and you want loud id go ported. the boxs for bandpass should be very large if built correctly, so if you could fit a bandpass for 2-12's you could probably fit a ported for 2-15's.

730 watts - severe dimming - which of these batteries should i get?
dbjunior replied to the mange's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
check the link i listed before. good battery cheap price. also with an alt that big even without a batt id dont think you should get dimming. i have a 140alt stock amp and a yellow top running 1200w and not a bit of dimming even at full tilt at idle. your alt is probably going or you have a bad wire in your charging system. if you dont properly charge a battery it will kill it so get it checked. -
cant be regular poly fill though it has to be the batting/padding style or it will be difficult to work wih in this app.
-
is it the crispy stiff board foam. it should be a soft cotton like foam and id leave the middle one out plus they look a little thick i say a 1/4in to 3/8 cotton or poly cloth like pad stappled to the walls.
-
id suggest porting if possible you will see a much larger increase than a couple hundred watts
-
should sound a lot better.
-
a good company to look at knu
-
wire size depends on how much power you are running 4 gauge is roughly 100amps so 1000w or less will be fine any more and id upgraded. as far as your electrical its strong so it should handle a fair amount depending on listening habits.

cdt cl-41/19 but they are 99 a set. you should only need 4ch unless you go active 1 channel per crossover powers the mid and tweet.
