bigjon how do you like those CDT components? ive always been curious about them
-
i think ideally for me, would be 2 12's or 1 15 ported on 1000 watts (to keep the same) then use the rest for deadening, speakers, 2 or 4ch amp, a good battery, and do a run of 1/0 to be safe suggestions for this?
-
yea... an 18 wont fit. no way in hell, to get close i would have to glass her whole trunk and im not freakin doing that, i dont have the time Q's do sound good so far where can you get type x's for $75???
-
she definitely wants new subs yea, that could work, or do a 15 BL... generally speaking, how do you think that would compare in output to 2 15's sealed? of course she thinks she wants new subs... her system sounds bad... somthing that can be fixed with the correct box.... tell her seems how they are trashed subs. ill buy them off her for a trashy price let me know.. my brother is in waco. OH and the reason i say Q and not BL. is because i have owned the BL's and while they were great subs.. used in an SUV or a hatchback i think it has a little more sub noise then the Q... also the Q can get lower then the BL with no problem. its able to play i donno master P and then also able to play fall out boy well when she feels like crying. or what ever. yea, but she's also had the CVR's for like 2 years, so she's just tired of them anyway, and im not gonna argue she will sell them, but i dunno what a trashy price means, i really dont pay attention to prices of kicker stuff the car is not a hatchback, im not exactly sure what you were trying to say about that

sorry, i typed everything then accidentally closed the window and had to type it all again, and got lazy "complete daily beater" as in only for her pleasure? yes she has a HU and if we keep it to ~1000 she will be ok with the wiring she has Mazda 3, i dont know the actual dimensions right now, but the box she has now pretty much takes up her whole trunk, so i dont think she cares that much about the space it takes

im not gonna lie, i really dont like it when people want subs and everyone suggest they just do front stage instead. if they want bass, they will only get that with subs, and if they want better front stage later, they will come back and ask about that. with the back seat out, you should have alot of options, though i am curious to see how it will perform in a convertible....

what would you bang in your ride?
christobear replied to bassmaniac's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
im only gonna say the cvx's cause then people will want to see/hear it again later, and when you have both Q's, it will sound soooo much better and be wayyy more impressive....especially for high school kids are they gonna be sealed or ported? -
AQ1200D & DD M1a the same??
christobear replied to tripslipfall's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Same boards maybe. Most likely different components. AQ uses Chines parts. DD uses American parts If you really are talking about amps... which of those quotes are you saying BS to? -
1. other than using the 16in per cube rule, how do you guys calculate how much port you need? and is this an accurate calculator? http://www.carstereo.com/help/Articles.cfm?id=31 2. how much port area do you need when using aero ports? same calculation? 3. when using a flared port, how do you calculate the tuning; for example, does the flared part of the port count towards its overall length? always tryin to learn new things here, thanks guys

bout 60 in a go-kart 110 in my Scion xB 130 in my dads mustang got a man date to go 196 in my buddies tricked out RX-7 and the fastest for me was about 202 in this sweet thang (thats me back in the day with the long hair.....and thats a Ford GT if you didnt know) -
look in the Fi technical section, its all explained depends on your install and your definition of loud. but for alot of people (including me), 2 12's on 2000+ can be very loud
-
you really should get some pics man, i have an 09 xB and am considering a BL

well i guess we need to define "low" notes right now my box is tuned to 38hz and its ok for most stuff, but low 30's and it really starts to drop off. im looking for something that will be strong it that area (and i know i can try building another box for my current sub, but im looking to upgrade anyway)
-
AQ recommends what seems to be a pretty high tuning of 38hz. does anybody with these subs tell me if they can still dig pretty deep notes (i listen mostly to rap, but i also watch DVD's in my car) thanks

I have had this unit for about 8 months now and am very dissapointed in it first the cons, cause right now i cant think of any pros Cons: iPod Control: -no quick scroll or alphabetical search to find artists (you have to scroll down each page, 4 artists at a time) -every time you go forward into an artist, then go back, it takes you all the way to the top of the list -when you go into an artist, it skips the albums and goes straight to all songs listed for the artist -often times it does not show the correct artist or album -i have yet to get the unit to play video from my iPod, when i hit the button, it simply ejects my iPod from the unit and says "waiting for iPod" DVD: -takes a while to start up (same with cd's) -you cannot control the EQ from the DVD screen, you have to return to the ipod or cd menu Also: -there are multiple buttons that complete the same function, not a big deal but those spaces could be better used -the remote has way too many buttons and they all look and feel the same, you always have to look at it to see what you are pushing (which kinda defeats the purpose of a remote in a car) -controls with the remote are very limited and frustrating (despite the excessive buttons) Pros: (i thought of some) -it looks sweet, very clean with the cd/dvd drive behind the face -there is a little blue light behind the volume knob, which i think looks tight -the buttons on the outside light up white, looks nice to me -3 sets of RCA outputs Conclusion: i completely regret buying it other than the fact that i can watch dvd's, i often drive from waco to dallas or austin (about 1:40 minutes, so its great to watch a dvd) the only reason i bought it was because i got it for superrr cheap from a friend at a shop i do not recommend this unit at all, unless you get it for free. and if you do, sell it to someone you hate and buy a different one!

you have enough room to invert mount two of them? that might look sweet. awesome build!
-
whats the point of the tape around the sub?
-
sweet, is that just black paint and granite-ish paint?
-
