box for 4 btls with 24kw daily

I'd say 20 cubes for that sorta power, going more's just gonna make it more likely to go POP Have a fair amount of bracing and fibreglass the internals to keep the box nice and ridgid
  2. How much power should i put on a BTL 18 if i plan on running it for fairly decent lengths of time, 15-30min, at high volume. Is 4.5kw too much for that kinda usage... It'll be in a rather tight ported box

    Port dimensions, need help!

    it's for a slanted box. 34.25 W 18 H 9.5 Top D 13.75 Bottom Depth

    Port dimensions, need help!

yeah, been playing with it abit. Got about 2.1 cu.ft for volume now, and yes, it's with driver displacement
  5. I'm currently trying to design an enclosure for 3 Bl 10's i've got 1.85cu.ft of volume (total), with displacement. What sort of port area and length would i be looking at. Also, i can increase the volume slightly, as that is with 1inch MDF
  6. What sort of rules apply when constructing a ported enclosure. I know the basics like tuning and port dimensions. But do subs need to be spaced a certain distance appart to be effective...? Things like that! Cheers
  7. Why is it 4-500 more only if you get the btl? Well i'm guessing you don't want to spend that, if you want to get real low, you could get get 4 Qs..or 3 (maybe 4?) BLs if you want to get loud. (Pretty sure you wont have a problem getting loud with either setup though lol) It's that much because of weight and size, with shipping to Australia. So effectively, it's cheaper to buy a more powerful sub than to go for more less powerful ones, hence my choice of BTL's...
  8. I'm installing a RF T4000.1bd in my TJ and want some opinions on what fi subs would suit this the best, in terms of effectively powering the sub/subs. i am looking at 18's as they are hardly used in Australia. But more so for other non-novalty factors! Thanks

    loud subs?

I don't think i know anyne that can hear that low actually, besides my friends Flipper and Free Willy. lol Peoples hearing actually ceases at around 20Hz i believe. So a good ratio of am auditable frequency and sound pressure would be heard the furthest away. Then again, i'm not a sound engineer... just a mechanical engineer

    loud subs?

I think the kid's just asking what subs are loud. Answer is, how long is a piece of string? I'm sure there's some companies that make very cheap 18's that can take a fair amount of power. But watching them fall apart after only a short time, there goes ya street cred mate (btw, i'm Australian, so i say mate alot!) From what i understand this forum is for people who know exactly what they're dealing with, not people who want a big round (or square....) thing that goes doof-doof!

    Ported Enclosure for TJ Jeep

Yeh, well with only the front seats in it can fit a fairly large enclosure. i think it has about 50odd ft^3 of cargo space overall. ha i think it definately would blow the top off. It's got a hardtop for the winter which makes it a bit more versatile . Be great down at the beach, like a mobile party!!

    Ported Enclosure for TJ Jeep

I've come up with something like this. Pretty much minimises enclosure height, while maintaining 6 cubic feet per sub.
  13. I'm in the process of working out a system for my TJ Jeep. I'd appreciate some advice on different ported-enclosure arrangements to suit it. Leaning towards down firing, but i am concerened about wind interference from port positioning, as if is a soft-top. Also, it will be to suit two Fi BTL 18's or 15's, undecided... Thanks!

    Hey there!

I'd love to see a serious system in Antactica. Hmmmm, couple of 18's on a snow-mobile, sounds like a recipe for cracked ice! lol
