ok im buyin a 2003 audiobahn immortal 18 from my friend for really cheap, i know they are by far the best but i need something for my crappy truck for a little while, but i was wondering how much i should put on it, i know he had a 4000 watt legacy (crap) but it hit pretty hard, does anyone know how much they actually put out, and if anyone knows how much can i actually put on it, i read they are 2250 rms and 4000 peak, but i want to push it to its max

a good friend of mine has a re sx 15 dual 2 coil on a lunar 500 watt amp and it sounds really good and gets down, its in a 3.5 ct3 box but he just ordered another and another lunar because he liked it so much, but they sound pretty good, and get down for only 500 watts

haha, wow now i really feel like an idiot, i couldnt even think of what dmm stood for and i have a fluke and one i built in electronics class last year, i guess it just didnt ring a bell at the time

watts vs. true watts

ok my friend has a kicker 1500, and another has a lunar 1500 (made in louisiana, really good), but the guy says its really only 500 TRUE watts, but it is just as loud as the kicker, if not better, can anyone explain this to me? -
yup any idea where i could find any clear lights for them? ive been looking forever and cant find it anywhere
-
haha, nice man, i got a 89 ranger to work with, pretyy close to the same thing
-
hahaha, wow, and that thing was pretty loud in his truck, but that could be why its barely broken in, but also, where can i find a DMM to use?
-
no sorry i cant find any pics of the guts but it is a Legacy LA2259 and also, i read an article stating that the "old" or "original" immortals are the ones from 2003 or so with a double layer kevlar cone, which is what i have, but what do you mean 2200 watts "unclipped", also does anyone know what ohm the coils are, i know its dual coil, just not sure what ohm, and i also read that the original version of the immortal was deigned with some help from some of the guys from dd audio can anyone confirm that?

well, i just think its kind of messed up for those people who are trieng to get into this stuff more, and for consumers all together, i mean isnt it illegal, like false advertisement -

aw, your right, well i will have to have to find a 1500 that is stable at 1 ohm and bring it to school to test it -
watts vs. true watts

yes the model name is 1500 but what i dont get is how he says that it pushes 1500 watts like other amps, but 500 "true" watts, thats what i wanted to know about, if there was a such thing, and maybe someone could explain why it would push the speaker just as much as a 1500 watt amp, also i see what you mean by the name, but he now has a 1 channel 2250 amp coming out so that wouldnt work, not being mean about it, just saying -
aight thanks for the info on the amp, that really helps

and i am also with jim on the sq because i believe there can be differences in sq in amps, especially tubes, which are the s*** in my opinion -

well no we didnt use actual equipment we just heard by ear, and i dont know why he would say that either, but just because im curious im gunna have to test it and see if there is any real difference, i really want to see if there is any difference in his 500 true watt amp and a regular 1500 watt rms amp like he says -

ok well this might help a little more, they are running "true" 500 watts at 1 ohm on a re sx 15, and we hooked the kicker up to the same speaker and they pushed the speaker just the same, i also believe that the lunars are supposed to be more on a sq side, if that help with anything, sorry if its not clear or is a stupid question, just trieng to learn a couple things (and those lunar amps are really freakin small!) -

o and the person who says that is the guy who makes the amps himself -
The "X"con 12" prototype has arrived
bristabrock replied to Mark LaFountain's topic in Sound Solutions Audio (SSA®)
haha e-con, pretty funny but actually might be a good idea, i know its hard for my broke self to afford things at some times, but thanks for the confirmation denim, i will defidently have a 18 or 2 15s in my vehicle, no one from here has even heard of any company or anything thatll beat that hard before -

well as long as the dust cap doesnt affect performance, as i believe denim already says it doesnt if i remember correctly, i defidently vote for the dust cap, looks really cool to me, and if im able to afford these, ill throw my 18 out the window on the way to order me some -
blown amp and head unit?
bristabrock posted a topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
ok so today me and my friend were taking out his back seat of his z71 to make a new box and he accidently moved his amp when we were pulling out his old box and there was a spark from the power and ground wires touching, so we moved them apart and didnt pay any attetion, but when we put the 15 back in and hooked it up his amp wouldnt come on, buyt the radio did, so we turned the truck off and re-connected the power and ground to make sure and now neither the amp or head unit will work, anyone might have an idea to what the hell is wrong with this thing, o and the head unit and amp arent using the same power wire, but they are connected with a remote wire -
blown amp and head unit?
bristabrock replied to bristabrock's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
we tried putting te wires in first and when we went to put the fuse in it made a huge spark so he brought it to a nearby place and he said he blew his head unit and damgaged the amp, so now he has to pay 106 to fix the amp and a new head unit -
blown amp and head unit?
bristabrock replied to bristabrock's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
well we got a new fuse for the power wire for the amp and there are none in the back of the head unit, and we put the fuse in and when we put the power and ground n the amp it makes a huge spark but the wires arent touching -
blown amp and head unit?
bristabrock replied to bristabrock's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
the remote wire did touch the power wire, and the fuse on the power wire to the amp blew so e are going get that today, bu their are no fuses on the amp -

ok, im kinda new, so this might be a stupid question, but why are bass knobs so bad like everyone says?
