I've only competed in Usaci and non sanctioned comps. But every one that went by amp size didn't pay an attention the ohms. Just ratings. That is why I run my amp at a 1/4 ohm in comps.

If my Alt cant power my amp 100%??
alvitae replied to Kyleebbert's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
The rms on the bl is 1000 if I remember right? Wire it parallel. Positive of one coil to the positive of the other coil then to the positive on the amp. Same thing with the negatives. Wiring diagram -
If my Alt cant power my amp 100%??
alvitae replied to Kyleebbert's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Watts = Amps x volts so if you take your fuse rating and times it by oh lets say 14.4 we come up with about 1300 watts give or take. That is at 100% efficiency. My Concept amp is a high quality amp and is supposedly 90% efficient. Lets be generous and say the Boss if 80%. So you lose 20% right there. Then without real good electrical When you crank it you will drop to battery voltage and lower so that puts your volts at about 12ish. I'm coming up with 850ish watts. A rule of thumb I go by is 75 alternator amps per 1000 watts is a good ratio. So I think your alternator is fine for that amp. I'm not good at math nor am I an electronics engineer so take this with a grain of salt Not slamming your stuff just letting you know how I rate amps personally so you don't get sucked into the rating scam the lower end amps pull. Edit: Slow typer someone beat me to it lol -
Read what PWK has to say about the Golden Ratio. I think it will help. Golden Ratio

What kind of numbers do you think i can get.....?
alvitae replied to thespoon25's topic in General Audio
Fixed ^^ But output numbers has so much to do with how much testing and work you put into the install. Might mean some deadening, a different size box and tuning, facing the driver a different direction etc. I know a competitor in the past that was leaning well into the 150's off a single first generation stock BL 15. But keep in mind he had been competitor for a long time, put loads of testing and tuning in his vehicle and was running close to 5500 watts to it. So as I said, it takes testing and time to find what works best for your vehicle. x2 I gained 10 db's over one summer with the same system tweaking and tuning. Moving box around etc. -
Great, A source for these amps now. I've decided to go with these amps. It's as if someone asked me what would be the ultimate amp package for my crx lol then built it custom. Time to start doing the old "I'll never ask for anything ever again" with the wife...

Amp For budget I had one of these, got it used and abused and then I used and abused then sold it to another guy who finally blew it up running 10 gauge wire to it and clipping it. It works for the money.

Kenwood 1000W class D
alvitae replied to Estsound's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
EmperorJJ1, What you are saying about being careful hooking up power is good to know with those amps. I got my amp used and the guy had put a wire from the ground to the chassis and told me to always leave it on there. Now I know why. It must have helped because I swapped that amp out a lot. -
Kenwood 1000W class D

My first sub amp was the Kenwood Kac-9103d. I've heard nothing but bad about kenwood but I wonder how many of those people owned them. I learned and experimented with that amp. Ran it at half reccomended ohms with full gain and bass boost sometimes. With two 12 inch subs in a pre-fab slot port I've had it reading 147.7 on an Audiocontrol. I took first place at the region 8 Usaci 0-600 stock class with it last year. It did 142.1 Term-lab. I never did have a problem with it. I hope you have as good as luck with yours as I did with mine. I regret ever selling it lol. -
You need to give that box a name, It definitely has personality. Very cool.

Audiopipe AQX35001 3500 Watt RMS Amp
alvitae replied to reaudiofreak85's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Google brings up very little on that amp, Kind of odd. I would think 3500 watts for 500 bucks would get more attention... -
It surprised me at first I thought I clicked the wrong thing on my speed dial. It seems like it will be easy on my eyes so I could get used to it I think. Who knows maybe even grow to like it even though I am getting old and hate change lol.

Audio control Epic-160 DSP, voltage/SPL meter
alvitae replied to jj1479's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
It was worth the money to me though, I compete but don't have a term-lab and it helped immensely with tuning in my amps and box placement and what frequencies songs hit best with. This car I wired it to a cigarette lighter plug and mounted it with velcro so I can put it in friends cars. -
Audio control Epic-160 DSP, voltage/SPL meter
alvitae replied to jj1479's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
I have had one for a year or so. If the temperature is moderate it reads dead on with the big audio control mics, The hotter it is the higher it reads. I had it reading 161 the other day. My car does 150 on the big mics. As for the volt meter it reads about .9 - 1 volt high. As far as the bass enhancer sounds. It is unhooked. Need I say more. Edit: I just read what I wrote and Realized I was a bit harsh. The bass enhancer feature didn't work well for me because I think I had it hooked up wrong. I had the rca's hooked up to the sub pre outs and not the full range is what was wrong I heard. Plus bass enhancement is the last thing my system needs. And I had it mounted by a heater vent so it got real hot when the heat was on and I got high readings. -
Right on! Congrats. Be sure and post up what you think of the amp. I'm a little curious about them.

Hey Beaverton, Just south of you in Albany. If you like competitions there is one at H&L audio in Salem on Friday the 12th. Nothing serious it's mainly the local bassheads getting together to see who blew what up since the last one

fuse size question
alvitae replied to Johnnymgl's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
I think people get confused on the inline fuse being for the amp. The vast majority of amps are already fused. The inline is for the wire not the amp. So you pick your fuse according to wire size not amp size. Personally I use the size under the recommended. On my 0 gauge I have 250 amp anl fuses. This is from bcae.com. -
Volt meter install
alvitae replied to Lord Baccus's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Right on, Going to have to see if my store carries those I need one and like the analog feature. Easier to track out of the corner of your eye I would think. -

The only thing I think they could make a law about is if it was just setting loose and would be a hazard if in an accident. /shrug -
Need some advice on phase switch setting
alvitae replied to Sir-Lancelot's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
I think you should be fine, I have a powerbass bass accelerator, one of the knobs is a variable phase. 0-180. I have it set at about 160 as that is what was loudest on the meter, Been running fine like that for several months now. -
Wow, I really didn't expect to see that nice of a box for free. Some time and effort was put it by a craftsman that for sure.
