Has anyone done this before? I was wondering if I would run into any depth issues or any issue in creating a baffle to fit the factory location which is 6x8s.

I need a box for two Fi Q 12" ported in the trunk of a 2007 Mazda 6. I went out and took some immediate measurements of the cargo space in the trunk. Roughly 28" D x 18" H x 45" W. Looking at roughly 2.0-2.5ft^3 per subwoofer, with the box's ports tuned to 30hz.

The box looks really great, and are those wires coming from the terminals on the inside? If so, are they soldered or simply connected, and eventhough, that is really nice and saving me the trouble of clamping on wires to the inside of those terminals. Once again, looks really nice.

Looking good man, can't wait to get that thing in my truck and produce some sound.

My 12" Fi Q came in today and I noticed that the magnet slugs on the motor weren't lined up just perfect. Here is a pic.

I have the design, the dimensions and everything. I just need it built and shipped. Need to know pricing info and other details if possible. Thanks.

I decided to change the "sub-stage" in my truck from that single 15" in that ported enclosure that just never seemed to sound right to two Fi Q 12" in a dual chambered sealed enclosure. The enclosure has about 1.5ft^3 per chamber. The two subwoofers are without the BP option and are being powered by an AQ2200d amplifier.(2200watts@1-Ohms). Hopefully sending each Q with around 1100watts. The subwoofers are DVC 1-Ohm, wired in series to 2-Ohms per subwoofer and bringing a 1-Ohm load on the amplifier. The first Fi Q 12" has been bought and so has the AQ2200d. I plan to order the second Fi Q in a week. What influenced my decision for this subwoofer stage: 1. The Q's performance in sealed enclosures. 2. The two subwoofer distributed inside the cab should even out the amount of bass experienced on both the passenger and the driver side. 3. The smaller sealed box should provide more leg room then the previous huge ported box. 4. The Q's ability to get real loud and sound real good, also their notorious low end. 5. The AQ2200D does rated power, good backing on this amplifier. 6. The AQ2200D is used, but only 10hrs of run time, the seller is selling it due to downgrading his setup to put the backseats back into his ride and guarantees its functionality. I've been sorta deemed as an extremely unlucky person in car audio but I'm hoping things will shape up with this setup. My previous setup was a 15" Fi Q Dvc 2, in a 3.35ft^3 box tuned to 34hz. There may have been a design issue with the port in relation to the box and subwoofer which may have caused problems. It was also powered by a Hifonics Bxi1606d.

Well, I emailed Rainbow Audio after I replaced the halogen bulb protection feature and still the tweeters were attenuating and they informed me the following: "Our Sound Line crossovers feature two tweeter protections which are connected in series. By replacing the halogen bulb with a silver wire jumper you by-passed just one tweeter protection. The second tweeter protection is a PTC which is kind of resettable fuse. The PTC protection is calculated according to the maximum power handling of the tweeter. Whenever the PTC will shut down the tweeter, you have driven the tweeter to the outer limits! We do not offer to by-pass the PTC as this is the last boarder before the tweeter dies by over-powering. You may short-cut the PTC by soldering a jumper on the copper side of the crossover PCB. The PTC is that yellow/brown round small thing with two wire connections. Please kindly note that by by-passing the PTC warranty claims for burned tweeters can not be accepted." But I could see if the tweeters are sounding like they're being stressed and losing clarity or distorting but thats not the case at all. They are loud, loud enough that loud snare drum strikes can cause you to blink your eyes. But its very clear.

Well, the issue I am having is that I am running the component set off of a Sundown SAX 100.2 2-channel amplifier which is rated at 100watts x 2 channels @ 4-ohms. The issue I am having is that I have the gains on this amplifier set at 1/3 of the way, the volume on the HU is at 26/35(roughly around 75%), volume offset at +3db's, and the EQ settings on a preset setting. No loudness on the Ipod EQ or the HU EQ. So I decided since I must be exceeding the tweeter's power handling that the amplifier must be outputting atleast over 20 AC Volts(= 100watts at 4-Ohm). So I took a DMM down to amplifier speaker outputs and decided to see how much voltage was being sent to the component set through one channel on most of the louder songs that I had. In my observance, the DMM was set to 200 AC Volts and the DMM read the voltage ratings in almost real time with the different peaks and whatnot of the song. Not once did the DMM's reading peak over 20volts. I also notice that alot of times the PTC seems to shut down the tweeters after a moderate amount of time of playing the song instead of immediately when the power surge from the amplifier would be apparent. In addition to that, alot of times the tweeters will not be distorted, showing signs of stress, or losing clarity when they cut out despite the loud volume of the music. Its kinda random. So Im not sure if it may be a fault in the crossover, or overpowering, if there are any ways to determine if either theory is correct, I would love to know.

Alot of people have told me that I'm a great installer as far as wiring, setting up, planning and designing but it just seems that with everything I get, nothing seems to work completely right. I wish there was a way I could get my hands on a another duplicate set of crossovers for this set of maybe a decent passive crossover so I can see if its actually an issue with these specific crossovers or an issue with how much power I am sending them...... Ya i was thinking it might be a problem with a crossover,but do both sides stop playing at once? Nope, one side will quit......then the other side will quit. Eventually both sides will both quit.... But they don't both quit at the same time.

Well, noob or not, atleast you do reply and try to help and theres absolutely nothing wrong with that, especially in comparison to alot of people who don't even try to attempt to help.

Tested the voltage on the test tones. At 120-129hz it read an almost constant 20.1 AC V It maxed at 80hz - 89hz range with 26.3 AC V But gradually decreased from 129 < and from 80hz >

Still paying off the past unsucessful attempt to get a decent substage in my truck. I am going to try the following: 2x 12" Fi Q DVC 1-Ohm AQ 2200d Amplifier(2200w@1-Ohm) ...in this box. Roughly about 1.6ft^3 in each chamber after subwoofer displacement. Sealed. Total Volume = 3.52ft^3. Housing two 12" Fi Q DVC 1 - .16ft^3 Subwoofer Displacement. Whatcha guys think? Its going behind the seat.

I just got done setting my gains with the DMM, my main issue and area of concern is the subwoofer and the Hifonics Bxi1606d amplifier. The component set is working and sounding fine and so is the Sundown SAX 100.2 amplifier. The Hifonics amplifier and subwoofer on the other hand are just being a pain in the ass to get sounding decent. To give you all the information I can on the subject we'll start here. I want that 15" Fi Q sound that we see and hear in videos, the smooth rumbling bass on all frequencies, well-reproduced, very loud, and sounding very good. To achieve this I have done the following. I had the following set on my amplifier and head unit. Amplifier: SSF: 25hz LPF: 80hz Phase: 0 Bass EQ: 0 Bass Boost: 0 Gains: Adjusted with a DMM at their peak playing frequency to do 34.6volts(1200watts@1-Ohm) Noted with a DMM, the impedance load on the amplifier is shown to be 1.5ohm's according to the DMM staggering at 1.3ohms every now or then. The DC voltage being sent to the amplifier is steady at 14.4volts. Headunit: Subwoofer Output = 15/15 Volume: 26/35 Volume Offset: 0 Loudness: Off Crossover Frequencies For The Subwoofer is 60hz with a -12db/octave slope. --------------------------------------------------------- I decided to use this song as a test song, "Put On" - Young Jeezy. Well that, yielded no real decent results, the subwoofer sounded fine with no clipping and no distortion but also wasn't very loud at all. Shortly after that I decided max out the filter settings on the amplifier, setting the Sub-Sonic Filter at 15hz and the LPF at 250hz. And let the cross over settings on the head unit take over. There was a distinct increase in sound and performance from doing this, but nothing too great. Well I bridged my Sundown amp and wired the sub in series and hooked it up. It played with limited output, LPF set. gains at 1/2, Ive decided to go back to the drawing board and atm Im looking at the following. 2x 12" Fi Q's - 259x2 AQ 2200d Amplifier - 389 3.52ft^3 Dual Chamber enclosure(Which will provide me with leg room) - 150ish(custom built) I can return the Hifonics amplifier and gain 199.99, I wish there was a way I could polish up that Fi Q 15" and maybe return it to Fi and pay maybe a few extra bucks and get a brand new Fi Q 12" in return since I don't really have a need for it. And the subwoofer is only about two weeks installed. I do have no complaints at all with the Rainbows or the Sundown amplifier, the mids and highs sound amazing and the more I tweak them, the better they sound.
