if you have the money get a sundown lol personally i have a hifonics 1608d for now at least, powering my q12 and it works great for me. i have heard from people that the brutus series amps have been known to literally catch fire, so idk if thats just hearsay or what. but i would bet that hifonics just doesnt have a very constistent product so u are risking a little when u get one if i could do it again i'd save up for something like a 1500d. just my .02

ahhhh my bad still... its a good cover for user error imo
-
being totally loud hahaha
-
get the BP to help cover user error thats what i did with my Q12 its getting around 12-1400watts rms and it sounds incredible. i have to disagree with ^^^ because i have no clue how my Q could possibly sound any better than it already does with BP power. jmo
-
the Q would sound better sealed not necessarily my Q12 is ported at 34hz and it sounds unbelievable.
-
first off here is my box: here are the plans i used to build it: 2.26cuft@34hz i have a 12" fi Q BP power off 1200 clean watts and it sounds great in the car but when i pop the trunk while the sub is playing there is this whistling and its really annoying... seems to happen worse on low notes... what is the cause, not enough port area? cuz i am pretty sure there is plenty of port for this sub ive already decided i'm building a new box eventually but this is an annoyance that i would like to avoid with my next build tia!!

i just want to see a 12" nightshade build so i vote nightshade. even tho i'm a fi man
-
hmmm i'll check again but when i first noticed it i didnt feel any air coming out except for in the port i know when i stick my arm in the port to try and block the air some, the whistling changes some... i'll have to check tomorrow tho dont want to wake the neighbors XD
-
already did that... its just not in the pic lol thx for the advice tho
-

i have a 12" Q w/ BP power in a 2.26cuft ported encl. tuned to 34hz running off about 1200 clean watts from a cheap hifonics 1608d. i have yet to get it mic'd but its loud enough to shake ur vision and the tonal accuracy is absolutely incredible. this driver will play anything i can throw at it.... from gorilla zoe to impending doom, from young jeezy to with blood comes cleansing, its an incredible driver... no i have no experience with the SSD but i can assure you that you cannot go wrong with the Q for your application. its fi's unsung hero, and in my opinion an ideal daily driver

my q with bp power takes 1200 clean watts with joy off my hifonics 1608d just in case you were wondering. did i need bp power? probably not... but it was more of a user error protection for me lol

well i'll tell you the q will hit what most people consider low with more than enough authority spoken from experience. i have a 12" Q and it DROPS
-
some strange man left a box outside my door... Fi Q 12" 2ohm DVC, Loaded (BP Power) pretty much everything's ready to install... just gotta buy some rca's and a small amount of speaker wire... i'm freaking excited thank you fi for prompt shipment and great customer service

Fi Audio Choices and what would be need to buy with?
mattxc replied to sam9007's topic in General Fi
ok let me break it down for you SSD - current base model (besides the X which idk if they sell anymore). gets sorta loud, sounds sorta ok. Q - Sound Quality line. should get louder than the SSD, and sound much much better. also plays the lowest notes of all the Fi drivers, depending on application. BL - not quite as SPL (volume) oriented as the BTL, but definately not as SQ (sound quality) oriented as the q. almost definately will not reach down to hit the lows that the q will, but has more potential to be much louder in the right application BTL - all out SPL... IMO it doesnt sound quite like crap but its close. if your buying a BTL odds are you dont really care though, all you care about is getting LOUD. SPL scale, least to greatest, depending on the right application: SSD - Q - BL - BTL SQ scale, least to greateds, again depending on application: BTL - BL - SSD - Q (not really sure if the SSD belongs in front of the BL or not, they may be interchangeable but IDK) "hittin the lows" scale, least capable to most capable, once again all depends on the application BTL - BL - SSD - Q anyone please feel free to coment or make changes to this as its merely my opinion -
There is no BTL 10 though probably cuz the mag is like 11.25 inches in diameter LOL... at least thats one reason
