What amp to get?
NofearX18 replied to NofearX18's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
it doesnt matter to me as long as i power it -
x2. Seems like a lot of power for a single BTL. Why don't you guys ask for an advice before buying ? It would save you some trouble. i made a thread on here that was completely ignored... i talked to a couple people on youtube who told me if i was going to be getting a sundown that i should get the D1 option. so that being my only refference i went with them... what do you mean "a lot of power for a single BTL" its a Hifonics Bx1605d which is like 1300rms at 1 ohm from what i have been told so at 2 its like what? 800?

yea its not going to be what i was expecting but i hpe its enough to get me by for alteast a month or 2... the amp will be sold and then the sundown will be installed. basshead has givin me some great help and i guess i am stuck with the 2 ohm... now to figure out how to make this box... lol

Bought a BTL 18. area in the trunk is tight for now... I would really like my Sub and port facing up. but if that isnt possible or not good then i will settle fot the sub facing up and the port wherever it must be. i plan to use 1" think wood i guess (not sure if thats good enough or what kind to even get) so my dimensions for the box will have to be D: 25" H: 19" W: 27" i subtracted the inch of wood from this and comes to obviosly D: 24" H: 18" W: 26" I entered this into a volume calculator on some website and it told me that this was 6.5 cubic feet. My question is, is this correct? and if not what is the true cubic feet of these... im pretty good at math but i couldnt find a formula for this anywhere...except for these calculators. also i went on another calculator for Port area.... this looks kind of odd to me aswell. i asked it for 35hz (which i hopes fits my listening style, because this is my first ported box, and i like my lows to smash but i still enjoy the highs... lows more ofcourse though) I gave it the measurements of 20" H x 3" D and it told me that i would need the port to be 13.91" deep... is this correct as well, if not what is???? and i should be fine just going with 14" rite? Sorry i am only 17 and still new to car audio, i understand the basics but all this is still kind of complicated to me. please give me some assistance Thanks in advance! Nofear

sounds dumb i know... but what would be louder? 2 15" Kicker L7's or 1 18" BTL. im working with very little space and all being stuck with strict parents who want the spare tire to stay in the trunk of my jimmy so i have about 6.5 cubes at most. thats barely enough for either selection. either way i go i will make sure they have a good amp going to it and sufficent electrical. im just currious for what i have to work with, what would bang harder. im going with a ported box obviously. i REALLY want a BTL after seeing the amount of output these things do. i like my L7's aswell. im just curious and kind of new to this. Never heard a BTL before so im not sure how to compare it to 2 15" L7's. from the looks of things it looks louder on the internet and all but im not sure. any oppinion is appreciated. please dont be ignorant though. thanks

Hey, I am going to buy an 18" BTL within the next month. im working with some tight space though. I have a 2000 GMC Jimmy and i "need" to keep the spare tire in the trunk as far as my parents are concerned... i think the dimensions of the trunk are about 26"L 28"D 30"H but im not sure... i will re measure and update when soon if im wrong. i know it came out to about 7 cubes when i had it measured... pretty much what im asking is what design box, and the size of the port i need. i want both the sub and the port facing up. building the box is easy. im not to sure on how to "tune" it or what ever. im not sure what i want it tuned to either. i listen to rap (lil jon, jeezy, ect.) so i was hoping someone could tell me where i would be happy. I like it LOUD. Also my plans are to get a Sundown 3000 but rite now im stuck with a Hifonics Bx1605d until i can afford it. i think that would be enough to keep me happy until i have the $700 for the amp. any suggestions for a different amp at a lower price would be great. please give me any info possible. also please dont try to change my mind lol. i really want a BTL, not a BL or any or the other models. Thanks!

BUMP and my largest dimensions that my trunk allows is 26" D 28" W 20" H i know thats not much to work with but when i quickly calculated it up it came to like 6.9 cubs and some change... might not of done it rite, and i didnt factor in the width of wood or anything. as i said i want it to be loud with rap, hit hop, techno-ish bass songs like bass mekanik and stuff like that. im not sure what to tune the box to or how... i can build the box but im not sure how to make the port to where it will be loud. i want to build the box and port from wood. dont really feel like buying the round ports and all that. Any help is appreciated. please give me a hand here. Thanks

Hi guys, Im new to this forum so i hope i put this thread in the right place. I have 2 10" Kicker L7's in my truck that are getting power from a Hifonics Bx1605d in a sealed fiberglass box I started noticing the the one on the right is acting a little funny and buzzing a little bit. i took it out the other day and realized that it has a rip in the coil. Its on 04 model so it is decently old. I called Kicker and asked if they do repairs and they told me no but i could send it and $210 in and they will send me a 08 model... i can get the 08 models off ebay for far cheaper... my other one is fine but this one sounds horrible.... Im not too educated with all the Car audio lingo. i mean i know the basics and stuff but please try to help being as basic as possible... im still a newb. Does anyone know where i can take/send my sub for it to be fixed? if i cant fix it im going to sell it and move on to something a bit louder... Please help Thanks

...ok maybe its not the coil then... ummm yellow peice of paper like thingy under the cone that moves up and down with it. has a rip the it vertical and then another that goes all the way around...
