whats up guys, been debating on what sub/amp combo I wanna go with, thought I decided on 2 soundsplinter 10's with an alpine pdx 1.1000 amp, but then I realized I might not want that much bass.. I listen to probably 75% rock, 25% rap, I want something with great sound quality, but I guess when necessary I wanna be able to turn it up and feel it when I listen to rap.. dunno if I should go with 2 10's, one 12", or maybe one REALLY good 10"... I have heard of subs like the JL 10w7 sounds really crisp, but when you want it to be loud, it can sound like 2 12"s almost.. what sub does SS, SSA, etc make that would be the equivalent of the 10w7? You think in my case one really solid 10 would be sufficient? Also, would I be better off facing the sub to the rear of the trunk or through a ski pass? I have an 02' Lexus IS300. It seems a lot of people point it through the skipass, but wouldn't point it to the rear make more sense? Allow the waves more time to get back to the front of the car? I have the stock headunit now, should I upgrade my headunit first and then worry about subs? A guy at a local shop said when it comes to subwoofers, you can't really hear the difference between a stock headunit and an aftermarket one.. Is he right? Sorry for the extremely newbie question, I am new to all this, take it easy on me you can just post an old thread if you like, I don't mind researching on my own.. Thanks in advance!
