    Recommend components under $200

I listen to alot of rock, alternative, a little metal and a little rap. I would prefer a softer tweeter if possible. Well, I heard good things about the 880 and the JL 300/4 so I'm glad I did something right. Lol.

Debating to get BP Power or not with a Q

I didn't order it on my 15q and I'm going to put a Sundown 1500 on it, just watch your gains and you should be fine.

    Fi Q question

For real. I dont mind waiting. One of my friends is like, When's your sub comin in? He asks me this every day or two. I think you have me wrong, i am not upset that my sub is not here in one week, this is my first system and i am just getting ancy to get it here. I was just asking because i am curious think about your first system you put in. It's cool we're not bashing, we all remember that feeling. I think your gonna really enjoy it. Mine is a big step up from some Mclass 10's in a prefab fart box. To a 15Q in a 3.6cu box tuned for 32hz. Should smash the lows.

  5. I would like to be able to go active without changing my deck out. Budget is about $350 or so. I was originally going for a pioneer AVIC-D3 but it's a little on the pricey side atm. I think I'll get a 4ch amp and bridge it to 2ch if I want to start with passive and unbridge to go active. How does that sound. I have heard the only difference between the 800 and the 880 is the copper plated chassis and the face plate. Is that really all?

    Fi Q question

so is that 7-10 business added to my 9 days since i ordered it or 7-10 total, sorry to be repetitive. No, 7-10 total. I would give it 7-10 days from the day your received your email from UPS. I know how it feels, I've got a 15" Q on order, and am getting ancy.
  7. I ordered their KLM 1/0 wire kit on a Sunday, got it on Thursday. I'm in Louisiana, and that's with standard shipping.

    THE first SSA/Fisher Customs combo

What are the dimensions on the box? W x H x D I may be getting two icon 12's in the not too distant future and they are going in the back of a Toyota Tacoma where there is not alot of space, and also what is the final shipped price gonna run on the two 12 box?
  9. Hey guys, looking to upgrade soon. I just got my Sundown SAZ-1500 in the other day, running it at 2 ohm on 2 Memphis M-Class 10's ported and Its not very loud at all. I was looking at running 2 12's possibly ported. Or maybe 1 or 2 15's in Sealed enclosure. It's going in the back seat of a Toyota Tacoma x-cab so I dont have alot of room. I need subs that I can run the pair at 1 ohm. I originally was thinking of either 2 Fi SSD's or 2 Fi Q's. I looked into the SI Mag's but they would put me at .5 ohm and I'm not doing that. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Good sub recommendations for SAZ-1500D

A pair of Icon 12's in a ported enclosure tuned around 32Hz would give you way more output and still have the control you are looking for. As long as you can fit the space. A pair of 10" Icons ported would probably get you close as well. Thank you for the help and recommendations. Someone told me that I dont have the amp to push two of them. I think I do. I think pushing around 700-750 rms a peice would be plenty. But do you think it would be too hard on my amp?

I think the enclosure they are in now is a little more than recommended airspace for them, its one of Memphis prefab ported enclosures, but they are tuned pretty high from what I've read, also I've read my current subs are better for small sealed enclosures. As for my definition of smooth is a good non distorted tone over their whole frequency range while still having a well controlled cone when it comes to faster bass drums beats in rock and metal. I like the way my subs sound for rap music, and bass tracks, they sound good and get loud. It is just that I listen to alot of rock as well which as you know doesn't have the smooth bass beats that you get with rap and bass tracks. I want to get rap type output, while playing rock music, while still having tight hitting bass if that is possible. As for sealed or ported, I'm not sure of which to go with. I think I could fit one 12" sub ported to around 2.4 cubes of so in my truck, because of the space confinements. Although I could probably run at least one 15" in a sealed box. Or two 12"s sealed. I really dont know If I could get two ported 12"s in my backseat.

When I said SQ I really mean I just want a smoother tighter bass as of now the M-Class aren't really able to control fast bass beats without freakin out a bit. I want my subs to be able to keep up with heavy double bass drums without skipping a beat. I want a tight control over the cone of my subwoofer. I am learning. I've been trying to research and learn more about subs and amps and not buying overpriced name brand stuff. I'm sorry if I seem like a dumbass M5, I'm new to the technical side of car audio.

No. Loud is not the most important. I want good SQ but It has to be louder than what I had. My M-class are quieter than before and I want more. I dont have alot of space. I have about 16" deep by probably 42" ish wide by about 30 something tall. Thats my whole backseat, well, what was a back seat. My two 10's take up a little over half the width of my seat. I could fit sealed better though. I thought about maybe building a sealed box for my mclass and see the difference in sound. Amusing since personally I think the M-class drivers sound a bit like fart cannons and you are asking for something louder... Yes, I do want a little louder, and I want better SQ. A bit of both. Not as necessarily alot louder, I really would like to move more air. I have a friend that has four 10's ported and I like being able to feel the bass in my chest. Not as much ridiculously loud as just a more solid thump to the beat, and my M-Class just dont do it for me.

I really like the Icons as well. It's going to be a daily driver, but I still want some solid db's with good sq, I really have liked my 10's but for some reason they were louder on my old Lanzar Vibe 230. I cant figure out why. I have set with a voltmeter and 50hz cd but it sounds weak. What do you think about one ported 12, like the Icon or a Q with the BP option?
  16. Ok, I'm sort of a newb at the whole gain setting thing, I just got a Sundown SAZ-1500D from Chris at Db-R and I was setting it with the volt meter, 2 ohm load, 800 watts rms, should be about 40 volts. I tuned it there, with the bass boost all the way off, bass knob up to max. Hooked up the speakers, and It wasnt very loud. My Lanzar 230 was louder. So I did it by ear, listening for any clipping, and I started to barely hear any distortion so I backed off till it was a good clean sound. I retested with the voltmeter and it was at 55 volts. I'm running 2 Memphis M-Class 10's in a Memphis prefab ported box until I can get some 12's. Is it ok to run with the volts this high if I'm not hearing any kind of clipping?? Thanks guys for the help.
  17. Basically to know for sure it would have to be checked on an oscilloscope. And basically dont trust my ears.
  18. Thanks for the help. I redid the voltage. It hits great on Rap and bass stuff, just when I was adjusting to my ears I was adjusting it to rock music. So I was cranking it higher than needed to get the substage sound I wanted. I set it back at 40v. Which by my math is the 800rms x 2 ohm = 1600 then find the sq rt of 1600 which would be 40v. I really cant wait till I get 1 or 2 12's. Thinking of 2 Fi SSD's or 1 Fi Q probably sealed.
  19. Then I guess I'm going to turn it down. But I'm not hearing any distortion from my subs. Could be that memphis builds their prefabs to 40+ hz tuning I need to get some better subs.
  20. When I meant 800rms I mean the amp is rated at 800 rms at 2 ohm, which is my speaker load. It makes 1500 watts only at 1 ohm. I'm on a 2 ohm load. I used a 50hz test tone I got off of the gain setting tutorial on this site, with the speakers disconnected. If the amp makes 800 rms at 2 ohms, that means that the voltage should be at 40v according to the math. At that level though the speakers are not very loud. So I continued to turn up the gain and I started to hear a little clipping so I turned it down. Got a good clean sound, that I hear anyway, and unhooked speakers ran tone again and checked voltage and I was hitting 55v.
