Need For Speed:Hot Pursuit is supposed to arrive today, ahh, gaming heaven!

Why are you a Port Whore? I like large gaping holes in enclosures I follow Vance Dickasons enclosure formulas, which disproved the 12-162" rule of thumb pretty darn often, I hate that rule, lol

Watching Congo, good old Michael Crichton. RIP

2 JL AUDIO 1000/1 V2 and BTL what to do!
Duran replied to Infinite913's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
It really will be fine, no o-scope needed, a little gain matching and he's golden. BTL's handle huge amounts of power. They will be reading a 1.7 ohm DCR per amplifier, and since they aren't strapped the amps won't go into protect, they are also Slash series amplifiers they will deliver 1 Kw between 1.5 and 4 ohms I was refering to the BTL's ... not the amps ... Well it's just one woofer, and the same amp on each coil, with a DCR of ~1.7/coil and gain matching, it will see the same power. -

Running one amp per coil is not strapping. -

Since they are D2 coils, wire one amp per coil and gain match them, you'll have 2 Kw+ on your BTL and no need to get another amp -
Exactly as Julian said, Scott Atwell's designs from his RE days make them and the DC woofers kissing cousins, he has since improved upon the same designs in the Fi and AA lineup.

Rammstein - Mutter - Rein Raus

I have played with them, DD and AQ style woofers, with their very stiff suspensions and ultra light cones are MADE for burping, sure music works but they will not play like a conventional woofer, if you want it to play low, change the suspension and retune the enclosure.

What are musial preferences, and your space available for enclosure?
-
Presision Econowind does custom coils, although a single coil will be spendy.
-
What are your goals for this system?

I'd just get a dustcap and give the guy the rest of the money, he's got to feel horrible, no sense in stealing his money.

Blues Production Sub's. . . . . . . Remember

LOL....wow. Pretty salty. Wish their website had (a lot) more info on it. But those would have to be some pretty spectacular pieces of equipment to support those prices, considering they're priced up there with some of the best performing speakers on the planet. Well, now that time has gone by they have beat most all of the other high(er) dollar equipment, and took 8 awards and two world titles home from Finals, and all without a piece of time alignment nor processing to make them perform perfectly. All of these guys systems are running less than 5000 or 6000 dollar systems and beating systems that cost 6 to 12 times that much to build. I think that says plenty about the quality of speaker you are buying and that the price is not too high. Titles don't mean much, I'd much rather have full T/S parameters than saying they won the "Such and Such Award", or took home a few trophies. -
This vs. that threads don't work, know why? There are WAY too many variables to take into account to know which is better. OP: Please state your goals, budget, vehicle, electrical system, musical preferences, etc. so we can make a good recommendation.

Only a new dustcap is needed, not a full recone

Fi > DC, just wanted to put that out there

Sealed gets more hairtricks...

It'll take a bit o' studyin'

Exactly, good bracing would have been cheaper and stronger.
