running @ .5ohms?
Duran replied to supaduppaman's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Some amps you can gain quite a bit running them at .5 ohms, but NOT the SAZ-3000D, it is much more efficient at 1 ohm and the gain from going down to .5 is extremely small and greately decreases the amps life. -

Ah gotcha. That's probably why they get much louder at a mid-low frequency than a deep one. Well I'm definitely selling those, made a deal with a friend of mine. I guess I just need to figure out the pro's and con's between one 15" BL and two 12" SSDs. Any advice there is greatly appreciated! 12's. More power handling, head dissipation, cone area, motor force, and only $100 more than the 15" BL. $100 is a lot to a college kid without a job haha But that's probably a smart idea. Thanks a ton for the help. Think I'll see a big difference over the Mtx 12s? I'd assume I will, seeing as i'll be running twice the power, and I'll have them in a custom box. Plus they're Fi, not Mtx haha. You will see a night and day difference.

The SSD's and the BL would be evenly powered. There is no such thing as "underpowering" either. But that has NOTHING to do with this. With his size alternator, an aftermarket AGM battery would be beneficial.

Is it because of the port length? It's an Mtx box made for the subs. Roughly 4.8 cubic feet. I don't know the port length, it's a "side-firing" vent. The port length combined with the port area and internal volume of the enclosure determine tuning. The box is probably tuned very high, around 45Hz, closer to where the vehicle peaks so the subs seem much louder, but can't get low as you noticed.
-
Your 12's can't hit the deep bass because the box wasn't made for it, not because 12" woofers aren't made for it. 18" all the way down to 8" all play the same bass and just as deep, the only difference is output.

Yes you can do it with the 50.4. Great! How do I go about doing this? Would I simply set the channels in use to "Through" and adjust the HPF and LPF accordingly? Channels 1 & 2 have low pass crossovers that will go up to 5KHz. channels 3 & 4 only go up to 500Hz, were you wanting to use all 4 channels?

That's the stock deadening, if you really want to take it off and deaden go for it.
-
18's sound just as good and "punchy" as 8's will. The only difference is output.

It sounds like your port is broken, or coming loose and slapping.
-
At lower frequencies I would put it ~5 Hz. down.

kicker zx750.1
Duran replied to casedawg350's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
NO. Use 750. Kicker tests one amp out of every few hundred and then puts it's power ratings on all the birthsheets of that run. Use the rated power to set the gains. -
You need to find the right mix of port area to volume in the enclosure, I think a "small" enclosure with a port that causes the LEAST amount of air resistance but with "low" port area would be beneficial.
