The L7 is worthless in my opinion. It's just a paperweight. The Fi is in a different league, for that reason you shouldn't even consider the L7, and considering the Q is meant for sound quality, not loudness, you should choose the BL or BTL.

How to recognize a good SQ amplifier?
Duran replied to Dammed's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
You are correct, normally class D amplifiers have "better" heatsinks. Also, Adrian, a member on this forum is in Europe in Transylvania I believe and he repairs amps, and he's very good. Active means every speaker get's it's own channel and it's own crossover network devoted to just that speaker, the result is more volume and sound quality because the speakers aren't being forced to play something they weren't made for. -
I figured, but they got a hold of it somehow right?

Where did he plug the RCA's into?

Seriously! Jacob would you take trades on a 3000D with the new casing towards a 3500D?

Shin splints occur from the stretching of the interosseous membrane, the membrane that connects the tibia and fibula of the lower leg. Compression taping in most cases will remove shin splints for that workout period, massage before and after will stimulate circulation and promote healing of the membrane. Another thing to do is concentrate on your form, meaning stop running on your heels and run on yor toes, almost as if your falling, that will make you faster as well

I played with an actual working Droid today...yup, I'm in love!

A lot of it comes from experience, simply if you hear mechanical stress, or smell burning, other than the glue heating up for the first time that's a sign to turn it down. If you correctly set your gains and filters that will make thermal failure less likely, and if you build the correct enclosure that will make mechanical failure less likely. i hear u on that one? what would be the perfect enclosure for those? size of port holes or does it matter? Yes port area matters. 3.0-3.5 Ft3 per Nightshade is recommended, a general rule is 14-16 In2 per Ft3 of airspace. thank you man, ill stop asking questions now.lol hey whats up. got one more quick question for u when u get a chance. we were talking my 2 nightshade 15's and we were saying that if i was smart about it i could run a 4500d aslong as i set my gain and filters right. my question is how would u set the gain and filters so that you wouldnt cook the amp off or have any other mechanical problems, my 15's are 1-ohm so the amp would be 1-ohm? write back when you get a chance. thanks , kevin You have two dual 1 ohm woofers, wire them to a combined 1 ohm load like this: http://www.the12volt.com/12voltimages/2_1ohm_dvc_1ohm.gif and your set. You will need a digital multimeter to set your gain correctly, you match the amplifier gain to the head unit gain. You set your subsonic filter about 3 Hz. below your enclosure tuning and your low pass filter a few Hz. where your midbass cuts off.

Is it possible to tool a LMS style 22" basket? The S.M.D. basket? Sure...but it becomes a return on investment issue... You are looking at a ballpark of $50,000 for a die cast tooling like that...if not more. Allocate that..over a period of time..and we've got to sell 250,000 of those or so for it to make economical sense. I've got other solutions to the problem to keep the cost down to the end guy, but doing something of that nature does not make sense from a financial standpoint. We'll do what makes the most financial sense to do, having something like that stuck on the balance sheet throwing things off that do not return as fast as other things simply does not make sense at this point and time. It's really difficult to tool a new asskicking sub huh? Hahaha Incrimminator managed to tool a 21" that they have has success with, I'm sure you and Scott can manage

I'm sorry Nick, and OP, I didn't realize they were different, if one was larger I figured the copper would be not the flatwound coil. Oh well

She's gonna dump ME to run off with some little bitch then have the nerve to kick my out of MY bed. Fuck.

Kicked to the couch. Motherfucking women.

The BAMF5500 has protection circuits, at worst it would go into protection when powered on, and return to normal when the 4 ohm 6x9 was hooked up. It is possible that it fried the amp...highly unlikely though.
-
He already checked his amp with another speaker so the sub has nothing to do with it. Sounds like an rca issue or grounding issue since you say it gets warm fairly quick, right? Right on Jay. Although he did say his ground is in 1/0 aught on the frame. Have you upgraded your battery ground though?

About 60-65 lbs. Do you need exact weight?
-
Do you have a DMM? Have you tested the RCA's?

I doubt Jacob measured, so just take the cone body diameter plus 1/3 the width of the surround. Dude take time to read prior to commenting. Mr. Obvious, that is what I have been estimating. Since no one but Jacob knows I doubt it would be a problem to measure for a paying customer. I have little patience for disrespectful people. At the present time I have several enclosures in the design and building phase and I don't want to waste either my time or Jacobs. I read what you said perfectly fine, I think you forgot your manners for a minute as well.I told you to re-estimate because it's Sunday and Jacob won't be able to reply till the morning, an as you said, "At the present time I have several enclosures in the design and building phase and I don't want to waste either my time or Jacobs." Don't you think that taking Jacob away from his already busy schedule to measure something you can estimate very accurately yourself cause you and him to waste your time? Forgive me if I offend you, but I think you should be taking your own advice.

Unless you isolated your front battery from your engine compartment as well added batteries to the back, then you have lots of wire to run, at least it's not hard

It's Sunday, of course he won't reply.

Are you moving Aaron? Very possible. Wifey and I both have job offers south of Baltimore. Her's in downtown DC, mine in between. I really enjoy the DC area. If you both got offers why not!? You have kids don't you?

yeah if i remember right i think i saw something about this on ROE a long while back. and i think one of the guys from Fi said they were only gonna do the BTL and BL. but dont hold me to this, i dont wanna be the one responsible for false rumors. If I remember correctly they were going to make the BTL an BL 22" for sure, the Q is a little more difficult because of it's lower motor strength but Scott was working on it, the SSD can't be a 22" for that reason.

Why couldn't it? A properly designed enclosure is required, as in any other situation. The benefit is the large surface area of the drivers which reduces excursion requirements for a given output level, which keeps the driver's excursion further within it's linear operating range which will reduce distortion compared to similar drivers with less total surface area operating at higher excursion levels. Very well said.
