Welcome to SSA, we have quite a few enclosure experts on here so ask away. -
Another way to avoid this is predrill and use T-nuts and bolts instead of screws. They are much stronger and will allow you to remove your subwoofers without tearing up the wood.

You two are killin' me! You think his posts are bad here, you should see them on the other boards where the intelligence quotient is quite lower. Link please

Jay-cee it sounds like a grounding issue with your HU. -
Why does everyone say that it is a sound q sub. I have one premier 12 that plays lower than any other sub that i have ever owned. They are very capable of high spl numbers. lets not forget the big brother to these subs does hold a world record. Both of those situation are dependent on enclosure.

Silicone like he suggested is the only thing that can help besides a recone. When I was installing you ALWAYS put your finger over the drill bit in case it slipped. That's a newbie mistake.

The loudest single subwoofer record is a 180.3, see if you can do better.

Fatmat is asphalt. According to their website, they released a product called Mega Mat in 2009 which they claim is their first butyl product. There is a lot of confusion because FatMat used to claim it was butyl when it wasn't. After a lengthy debate on one of the forums, the owner agreed to remove the word "butyl" from the site. Last time I checked, he was still using it on his eBay auctions. He also stated that asphalt was a superior vibration damper in many ways, but chose not to elaborate further. I've yet to see anyone selling a butyl product say it was asphalt I have no clue why someone voted your post down Don, I evened it out. I wouldn't buy anything from ED or Fatmat. Ever.
