The 1.6 ohms is the Direct Current Resistance (DCR), the impedance is 2 ohms.

That's an awesome way to blow a new subwoofer. Sundown even says do not play your new sub at rated power until the break in. That's not necessary.

Well of course it will get warm, silly. It's a loudspeaker. 99% of the power you put into it is dissipated as heat.

Then something is wired incorrectly my friend, check the color coding on the terminals to make sure you have the wires in the correct terminals. -

The Death Penalty is not the same as a 9500., sorry. Second, a 9500 would eventually fry on 6000 watts. It may be 3 seconds, it may be three years, every installation is different. -
