The amp is a alpine mrp-m1000 and the crossover is at around 60 and the gain was set with a dmm and a test cd all i had to play with. Im gonna send it in tomorrow after work and add bp power if i can. BP power only increases thermal power handling, not mechanical. Your SSD failed mechanically. Also, setting your gain with a DMM is not going to prevent clipping whatsoever.

The only way you can run that many woofers in your space available is if you seal the enclosure. It you want a vented enclosure you HAVE to leave plenty of room for the vent itself so you cannot use the same amount of cone area.

The BL will sound great to your ears, and will take much more abuse. The Q is for a true sound quality setup.

Personally I set the gains by ear, not with a DMM. I turn up the music the absolute loudest it will ever go, and adjust the gain while looking, feeling, smelling, and hearing any sort of mechanical or thermal stress.

Second Skin is under new ownership, and from my understanding they will not be running any specials until that is all finished and they moved to their new location.
