SOB! Right when I just recently bought one.....x2 for more info
-
Haha sick box. How is its sound quality?
-
There is no calculus 4, you take calc 1, 2, 3 and then DiffEQ. Engineering is ridiculous...kicks my butt.

I know the Fi SSD will sound just fine off of 600 watts and get plenty loud for most people. I have never heard a Fi-day X so I cannot coment with reguards to that particular sub. However, the Fi-day X's are so cheap that you'd probably make your money back if you wanted to resale them and get the SSD in the future.

I really can't compare to the SPLX because I haven't had any experience with it. After using Type R's, Fi SSD's, Sundown Nightshades, and SA-12's, I gotta say I'm a SSD fan. I'm actually waiting on one to be built and shipped to me as we speak. To be honest though, I doubt you can go wrong with anything Fi. However, if you really want a big difference, I personally would look into more cone area and get two 12"s or a 15" if you can fit it.

Just curious, why overlook the Fi SSD?

If your trunk is small and you want to go ported, you should use aeroports. You'll save on quite a bit of space and still achieve the same box size/tuning you want.

He'd be better off getting a 0 gauge such as this: http://www.knukonceptz.com/productDetail.cfm?prodID=KCA-PK0 and getting the RCA's and speaker wire from Monoprice. I just purchased three sets of 25' RCA cables and 100' of 14 AWG OFC speaker wire and am very impressed with the build quality. However, piecing together a set is cheaper if you HAVE to go the OFC route. As long as the OP does a good job at taping off any CCA wire exposed under the hood, the CCA will work perfectly fine in his application.

Anybody familier with the alpine 9887
mattd0344 replied to stevemead08's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Like one of the guys said earlier, there is no treble/bass feature. Basically you have to use one of the default setting (i.e. Jazz & Blues, Hip-hop, etc.), go active, or use imprint. That kinda pissed me off about the unit.. -
It is going to be a downgrade, because of much less cone area and half of the power (SA-8 rated for 400rms). Comparing a 15" to an 8" is few and far between. I have a pair of SA-12's so I know how loud the SA series can get, but 150DB's for an SA-8 in a burp situation is possible, but definitely not in a daily driver..I believe I saw some of those 150DB vids posted by Jacob on ****.org or CA.com. With the copper coils, FS lowers due to more mass which in turn allows the SSD to be more musical and play at lower frequencies. In all honesty though, I was looking for actual experience rather than opinion as I know what they "should" do on paper, but I wanted feedback from an actual real life experience.

I haven't seen really any direct comparisons between the two so I wanted to see if anyone has any personal experience with the old and new SSD's. I own an older stock SSD and loved how it sounded, but I just sold it. I was wondering how the new one sounds compared to the old? I'm trying to decide if I want to try out one of the new SSD's or just totally downgrade to a SA-8. Any info will be really appreciated.
-
It should be audible because the coil is now copper (standard) and isn't the new motor stronger? Also, I doubt they would build a new sub if it wasn't better, but I just want to know if it sounds better or if it is just built better.

If you want to achieve the most output, why down fire? Buy or make a grill and fire it normally
-
If you're looking for numbers you're gona need a tad more than 1200 watts...double the power and get a pair of DR's or the Sundown Audio Z15's on closeout

1200d v.2 not putting out like i think it should

What are your amp settings at? Obviously you're not pulling in much current or that 80 amp fuse would have blown. -
4-channel crossover settings
mattd0344 posted a topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
I'm installing an amp for my speakers and I'm just wanting to know what I should do for the crossover settings. I have 6.5" Alpine Type S components up front and 6.5" Alpine Type S coaxials in the back. What should I use for the input levels at the front (Full or HPF) and at the back (Full or HPF)? Lastly, what should the frequency be for the front and the back? I'm just going passive btw. Thanks in advance for any help! -
Check out the IA Flatlyne. However, if you want to hit atleast 145's you're not really going to find a SQ sub to do that. You might want to look into the Sundown Audio Z15 V1 that's on clearance or a Fi Bl...those are subs that will get loud and still sound good doing it.
-
Sounds like my new SPL build will be with two Z 15" v.2's! How much are we looking at Pre-Sale on these?
-
Learn how to install and trouble shoot it yourself..that's what the forum is for. It's very easy to do if you just take a little time to learn. I would never trust a shop installing something that I didn't buy from them..but that may just be me.
-
I'm sure they sound great and as you can see, they have high quality parts. Jacob isn't going to sell anything that's crap, so I say get off the fence and go for it. You're not going to find anything that's higher in quality for cheaper.
-
x2 and is the case going to look the same as the V.1???
-
The sound quality doesn't always depend on whether one sub has more linear x-max than another. The SSD is a daily oriented sub that sounds great and will get loud, while the Bl is more of a SPL oriented sub that will still sound good, not as good as the SSD, but it will be louder.

reminds me of the thread back on ca.com http://www.caraudio.com/forum/showthread.p...udio&page=2
