i had a hifonics 4 channel that started doin that, first it was just one channel. and if i turned the h/u all the way up the channel kicked back on, then eventually the whole amp would stay in protect mode. i checked all the connections switched out all the speakers to see if it worked, but it still went into protect, i opened up the amp but couldnt see anythin real noticable. i ended up scrappin the amp.

if your that close to the back now i dont think there is enough room to go back further. but i cant remember if the rule is to keep the distance from the back to port the same as the diameter or half the diameter

Damn and i was worried about hurting them on the 6500d.. I did not know anyone else was using these any more.. Nice to see there not total chit.. lol I just installed them today so not a lot of time to play with them yet and trying to take it easy but man they are loud as chit it may be due to the 40Hz tuning, I mean it does not sound bad but do you think it would sound better if I lowered it? The box has 3 4" areo ports how would I lower the tuning now if I wanted to? Add a port or plug a port? I want to compete with this setup or something very close any idea what close this puts you in? Adding length to the port would be the best thing to do. you could plug one of the ports but that will decrease your overall port area and create more port noise at lower frequecies. adding a port of the same length would increase your tuning

It s 2.742 each Ported to 40 Yea I know, I tested this and thats why it's 1/4 to 1/2 not wide open.. I set the volume to 20 every time I setup my system to help tune it seems to work. But man these things are LOUD I am not saying thats a bad thing for sure, but I just don't want to see them go up in flames due to a huge box. The info I have says 400wrms 1000 ( something ) then 3000max I know not to look at the max but from everything I can find these things can take a pounding. arent mayhems 2500 rms?

Whats the best way to mount an amp on a sub box and not have an issue of the vibrations messing up the internals of the amp?

I see you already got your fuse and fuse holder, but if you ever need more, there is a store on ebay that has that fuse holder with no brand logo. ive got one from there and a tsunami one from a shop around here, they are exactly the same, but ebays was 10.99, also got a 10 pack of 300 amp fuses for 10.99.

if you really want a sundown amp you could go with 2 saz1500s, but i havent heard anything bad from kicker amps.

its keeping my voltage above 14 thats for sure. never got voltage drops when i had my AQ2200 and just a single batcap. so we'll really test them when i get to chance to run the RD at .5 but for now 1ohm. i dunno where ill be throwing a 3rd tho. so you picked up an RD audio amp? also, is it better to use those batcaps instead of batteries like kinetiks?

I was at bestbuy audio center thing a while back, when i was lookin over some of the decks i heard a one of bestbuys guys talkin to another customer about wat amp he needs. i forgot most of it, but by the end he told him its better go get these subs and wire it to the amp at 1 ohm, the lower ohm load you have, the more efficient your amp is gonna be...

I was at a pawn shop last year, and i saw some huge rolls of 10 gauge power wire. so i decided to get 50ft of red and black wire. he asked why i needed so much wire, i told him i use it for sub wires, he when on and on tellin...no come over here ill show you our 16 gauge wire. this is wat you need for that. I said no, im going to have over 2000 watts goin though this wire. then he went on to say.. So, that doesnt matter anythin, i said yea.. ill have too much power for the little wires. he told me.. you dont know what your talkin about, the only thing that matters in wires are ohms.and thats what your buy your wire based on... so i paid for the wire and walked out the door laughing

can you than explain on what it depends, i'm probably missing something doublin power might not always add 3 db, yea in physics thats how it works, but the sub will have to be able to handle the doubled power too, also in this occations he has probably gained more than 3 db, added power and a way better box.

I changed to two 3000s on 16v later -- my signature is out of date I change so much I don't update it. Just use what I have -- I always put used amps in the Jeep so I'm not taking good new amps out of inventory. have you clamped it to see how much power your gettin with a 16V setup?

im not tryin to bag on your Randy, you would be good with 2 12's or 1 15 btl and on 3000d with a low tuning

did they build there boxes or prefab. im guessin prefab with a small port, tuned int the 40~5 hz range. that could be a big reason you werent satisfied. ive got 4 8's in my car right now in a box tuned to 30 hz. it gets sounds way louder than youd think, because of the low tuning.

me just estimatin your system cost im thinkin 8K+ for all that. thats alot for your first system, and you never said what you actually know about audio. and theres nothin wrong with wantin a loud system. but you shouldnt have such high expectations out of your first setup. and dont rip apart your whole car for that either.

If it has the port in the trunk like the one I listed then YES BTW I Was looking at Mr.Officals vids. today. is'nt he hitting 149.9db with those LMS's or is that another setup??? thats his bass race score, its just tryin to get as close to 149.9 without goin above it

well if you read his first few posts you will know he wants it b/c he saw steve meade do it and he wants to show off to the other guy with the pioneers just a stupid reason to waste money to say you have something when you dont know what you have. not being a dick or anything just saying thats kind of what i was gettin out of readin this thing too, but im curious as to what he knows,

I decided to take out my big setup for a while because it takes alot of drivablilty out of my car, specially in the rain and the last few days ice. So this will be my setup for a bit until i get a better suspension for the back of my car. I got 4 of the E8's from the presale, for now ill be using two in two separate tline boxes. the lines are a little short due to space, but im goin to see how it sounds. Im also putting a line for both the front and back of each sub. so 4 total lines. If this doesnt satisfy me ill go back to a longer line for just one side of the sub. the center piece has to be removable so i can get the sub in the box too. this is also the first box ive built that im going to put a plexi-glass face on. Its freezin outside today so i havent got much work done but heres what i have.
