it did start to sound alright at higher frequecies, but it it still loud for some 8's with this wierd bandpass tline box(once i blocked off one line). next up is a regular tline, then a regular ported box for 4 of the 8's. do you have a recommendation one what my line length should before regular tline?

Battery Maintainer??
fritosaregood replied to fritosaregood's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Is it a battery tender? If so you should not wire it together.. I would get one for each batt. My 2 cents yea, but i think battery tender is just a brand of battery maintainers. i could get another, but how im seein it is all its gonna look like a 3600amp 12 battery to the maintainer. -
Battery Maintainer??
fritosaregood posted a topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
I recently took out my big heavy soundsystem due to the weight in the back causing traction issues up front.( gonna fix that this summer i hope), but for now i took my two kinetic 1800 batteries out. I went out and bought a cheap battery maintainer thing from advanced autoparts, it says 1.5 amp maintain. My question is can i paralled the batteries together and hook both up to this one maintainer or would i need to get another. To me it seems fine, it would still be seeing 12v to maintain. Right? -
ok. i was thinkin around somethin around .5ish

i got the building of the box all finished up today, waitin on the carpet for now. I did run in to some problems towards the end though pics. time for the plexi glass, this was my first time so it took me about an hour on a scrap piece to get the right holes for the screws. after all this i tested the boxes and is sounded like i had lots of air leaks. so i had to take the top off and seal things up. tested again, and still sounded like are leaks. so i put in on the floor with the openings on the floor and no sound or air leaks as i tilted it up, it seemed like all the unwanted noise was coming from the back chamber line. my thoughts are maybe not enough space between the back of the sub and the wall. the magnet has about a half inch to play with. also the sub is sort of double baffled( i saw another thread where bigjon was askin a question of whether this would choke the air from the backwave, maybe thats wats happening). here is a vid of how it sounded like that. http://s369.photobucket.com/albums/oo133/F...nt=MOV07635.flv I grabbed a book and covered up the the opening of the line for the back of the sub, and it sounded alot better, so i cut some mdf pieces to block off the opening. here is a vid of that. http://s369.photobucket.com/albums/oo133/F...nt=MOV07636.flv So now,(P Dizzle, this is for you) i have turned this into a bandpass style box, It gets pretty loud now, but there is still some unwanted noise, so Im goin to flare the ends of the lines and see what that does. Also the sealed chamber is around 1.12 cubes, im thinkin thats another reason for the bad sound. Any recommendations on what volume i should put the sealed chamber at?

Nothing to do with either. The length determains the cutoff, that's it... Read up on Martin Kings (www.quarter-wave.com) white papers, you'll save yourself alot of time and headache. Additionally, diysubwoofers.org has a short, yet to the point explanation of a T-line. To be honest, most "T-lines" you see here, or any car audio site for that matter, aren't T-lines at all.... i think youve said this to me before, and ive read most of the things on those sites, and asked questions on here before and thats the answer on line length that i got out of it.

ive lost where i put the seams on a few fiberglass boxes with the cabinet carpet. that stuff is great

i always just use the same amount of resin and wait more time, with the cold i dont wanna be out there anyway. and for itchin, i heard to rub baby powder on your skin to keep out the fiberglass(when you sand) and its worked good for me. If you dont have any fiberglass mat, dont be like me and go to walmart and get there 3 or 4 of there little packages and think its good, i did that, i kept coming back till there was none on the shelves, i started with a pint of resin too..the place i found to get some mat is called fiberglasssite.com. I got a 25yard roll i think 4 feet wide, for around $90. i havent even put a dent in the roll yet

i get mine from parts express all the time. i just bought more today, part number for black cabinet carpet is 260-768, there is also there automotive carpet, its thicker and doesnt come as wide as the cabinet. black automotive part number is 261-700

all of that sounds like it would work good, but doesnt the line of a tline have to be either the fs of the driver, or the boost frequency on the amp?
-
oh, my bad, they are both 45 hz, thats where the boost on my amp is.. .. maybe if i had room i could do one at 45 and other at 35, boost/fs of sub.

yea. a 1/4 wave for the front and back of eachs sub... trying somethin new
-
Ive got it made already. it just a board with a guide to hold the centerpiece centered. i might have to make it removable so i can get the center piece in and out. at first i was just going to have the center piece that holds the sub slide in and out, but its real tight so it will be easier to make the top removable.

I got more work done, im waitin for some paint to dry now so ill post more pics.

ive yet to build a bandpass for anything yet. so idk about one for the E8s Isn't that what your doing now. You have a filter on the front wave of the sub and a filter on the back wave of the sub. that did cross my mind, that im making a bandpass Tline, wait.. did i just invent something? haha Guess I missed that part. Lines on both side huh? yea, but if it doesnt work out im going to rebuild it to have a line on one side

Time for more pics. I would have more but this cold is messin with my air compressor and its only gettin up to 70 psi, my nails arent going in all the way. some paint, still needs another coat

After i finished both boxes, with the goldwood drivers i like the second box better. I originally got these E8s to build two more boxes like those for them, but ill be using these in my car for now. The second box is also easier the build, the first one is hard to fit the woofers in if there magnets are too big. so all around i prefer the second style better

id have to look into those council meetings.. ive heard but not positive that a lot of the police in the next town over (little rock, ar) are dirty... as for those cameras, they wouldnt let me see any tapes. And a funny thing about them, they tell all the employees to park in the white lines spaces, because thats where alot of cameras are concentrated. so that shere i parked, but after this happened they told me off half of the cameras have rain damage, the only camea that could see my car was on the back of the building on the side. about 100 yards + away, they said all they could see was dots running around my car.

fudge the police, eh? but without us, just where would society be? we make bullchit pay, drive bullchit equipment, get cussed at for not doing our job when it doesn't affect a person then get cussed at for doing our job when it does. piss poor hours and the threat of someone with something to prove pulling a gun at a stupid stop, like a seatbelt offense. yeah, fudge the police, and next time you get pulled over, i hope he/ she writes you for everything they can. no, not everyone of us is perfect, there are indeed some crooked and craptastic cops out there. but there are also some very good ones, and i'm blessed to work with a few of those guys. and when someone like you makes that comment, my blood boils. we aren't perfect, but without us, society would crash. a cop dies every 57hrs on duty somewhere, taking a bullet (or stabbed, or ran over or beat to death) so someone else doesn't have too. why don't you volunteer to take one of their places? i'm sure you'll change your attitude then. and yeah, i police this place too, and this is your warning. anymore bullchit comments like that, and you won't be making any comments. in all seriousness, i don't care if your joking or not. i will not tolerate that attitude about my brothers and sisters in blue, regardless of time in. understand? wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee i dont wanna say fudge tho police, but ones around here seem to be scared to do things,.. my dads was the manager at a store it was bein robbed he called the police, took them an hour to get there, they walked in the door, all my dad said was " Hi, I'm dead now". And about a year ago my car got broke into by some guys in a mustang in the walmart parkin lot ( i work at walmart), the guys left a screw driver, a shirt, and tons of prints on my cars trunk, the police refused to take the shirt for a week, refused to take prints of the car, took the screw driver and said it was to hard to get prints off it. I even saw the car that did it again and gave them the licence plate and still nothin happened, then this very week i come out so see another car is broke into, and the cart pushers described the car, and it was the same as the one that broke into mine a year ago. I went and talked to the officer there and hes said, well this stuff is gonna happen this time of year, he didnt ever right a report for the guy that got broke into, then told us, "If yall see any other officers around here tell them what the car looks like"..? um maybe radio in the discription? I was out on the lot pushin carts yesterday and was surprised i saw, about 5 different cop cars circling the lot for about an hour or more, I was happy they were finally doin somethin about the breakin, BUT. one of the cops drives up to us and asks, " have you seen any guys puttin flyers on cars"??? How do you get 5 cars searchin for a guy puttin flyers on cars, but the guy thats breakin it to cars and stealing ppls property just gets to drive away. I wish some cops like you say you are could come down here a show these guys how to take charge of all the situations not just the easy ones

I was had the settings for half of the max rms power of the amp, but with 1 coil gone from a dual 2 ohm wired in parallel, my load went down to 2 ohms, that cut my power in half again. so i ended up runnin the amp at 1/4 the power i thought i was.
