Which is better Passive or Active? After askin on other threads i figured out the difference, but not sure which one is best. All i can figure is Passive would be better because you can use one channel of amplification and get 2 or 3 way crossover, and have that one channel power 2 or 3 speakers. So = better use of power. For Active you need one channel for one speaker. so more power is required by needing more channels, but that give you more control, right? Will one sound better than the other?

What are the ID, OD, and WW of the old 2 stack, old 3 stack, and the single slug BTL coils? Both the D1 and D2 of each.

i have one on my 95 4c accord and it does fine. sometimes the car sounds like it hates it though, but ive had it on over a year now and its been great. -
i just learned some words ive wondered about, Nice explanation. but, In you comparisons of the 50 watt amp and the 200 watt amp. How are the gains set? Are both amps set to give an output of 10 watts or is the 50 watt set to give 50 and the 200 watt amp set to give out 200.

I just got done with a temp box, http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/forum/i...showtopic=27944 Now Im gonna start a build log of the rest of my car. hopefully ill finish it this summer. Right now im starting of with new door panels. each door will have 2 7in daytons and 1 morel tweeter. Started off with doorpanels for a junkyard cut of parts i didnt want Put some cloth to flatten out the basic shape now to mount the baffle before sandin, i played it baby poweder...prevents the itchin Delivery today!! Ring terminals I even got a sticker this time and another delivery the same day Tweeters and switches now to start on the tweeters deaden the inside of the door panel. idk if your suppose to do that. ill be doin the doors too thats wat ive got done so far it the past three days. Ive also ordered the vinyl to cover the doors, and more power wire for later
-
i agree now that ive feel how heavy this thing is. Do you have any pics of ppl that have added bolts. and is it easy to hide them?
-
Got the drive door deadened today. did the inside part then the outerpart, then i put on the door panel so i could have music again. i should get the other one done tomorrow.
-
not too much done today. it was 5:00 before i got my car back from gettin the brakes fixed i finished runnin all the speaker wire and put in the crossovers. then i started on the centerconsole and dash. i also cleaned off the doors to get ready for deadening Sutherlands had a dollar isle with paint brushes not sure wat im gonna do with the console right now, but i want to have a cover over it to hide my zune.

i finished up the parts for the tweeters. but dont have any pics of that now im still waitin for vinyl too. I did get a delivery of wire, 50 ft of ground, 25 ft of red power, and 15 ft of blue power. and 500 ft of 18 gauge yellow my dad took home a 1000 ft spool of 18 gauge speaker wire that im going to use with the yellow to wire up lights and relays. i also started running 14 gauge speaker wire to my doors. kinda sucked, i had to take off my tire, part of the inner fender things and drill though the doop and add some rubber grommets. and it started to rain while i was doin it. then the other door Ive usually been gettin tons of my work done on tuesdays, but when i took the wheels off i saw that i need new brakes. so thats gettin done tomorrow.

What i use is sometimes called kitty hair, Its like a jelly resin with long or short strand of fiberglass mixed in. the way i learned was fiberglass, kitty hair, body filler, but i just use kitty hair last most of the time. ive never used rage though, just bondo brand stuff from walmart. the bondo should be thicker, ive heard of ppl thinning it out with somethin, but i cant remember wat. The way i apply it is spread, grate, spread, grate, sand. before I apply the filler i sand down the fiberglass. i also sand down the fiberglass inbetween sessions, but for door panels i do it all the layers at once. Did that answer you? i kinda just rambled on

Its going in an accord For mounting it. ive had door panels that were heavy before that held good with the factory clips. But if it doesnt hold ill have to find another way. A question thought. How is everyone else gettin bigger speaker wire into their doors. Im havin touble findin a way. the harness that go the to door already doesnt have any extra room around it, and is hard to get too, unless i take my door off. baby powder helps alot for me. i make sure to get inbetween my fingers too. unless i were gloves. bobonit, Did you notice my cheese grater.haha
-
Interesting, I'll have to try that !!! they make a shaper tool for bondo that looks like it. and i had a broken cheese grater. i like the cheese grater better too.
-
I usually wait 5 or 10 mins after putting kitty hair down, then i go after it with a cheese grater.

i think ive figured out wat it is. one of the pieces of threaded rod is almost touching the sub. so i thing thats wats doin it, itll be monday before i can look for sure.

I decided to build a kind of fart box for a local comp to get higher scores. and while i was designing it i thought i could make a second port for daily use and shove it through my backseat. I wanted to get a box for two 15s in the car but the most space i could get with the design i had in mind was 2.375 cubes per sub and i want more. so ill be using this box for this month then work out a new design based on this new box to get 2 15s in my trunk. this box will be a little over 4 cubes, with an external flared port, and lots of threaded rod and carriage bolts. i spent most of the day getting this far
-
its just a temp setup i wanted to build for a comp. so im just gonna leave it mdf
-
i built the amp rack and put the sundown in today. I still dont have my h/o alt so the sub is wired at 4 ohms. and a short vid
-
i almost took out my back seat so do a box on top for both subs. but i can bring myself to do that. to many ppl that like to break in around here. so since i decided against that im stuck with fitting a elephant in my trunk pretty much. I have the room, but my trunk openin is to small, so my plan now is to build the box in 4 pieces and an external port. and bolt it all together inside the trunk. im to broke from this box now so i gotta wait to buy more wood.
-
ive thought about doing subs forward and port up through there rear deck. but i got to comps and i want to have an interchangable port tuned higher for better numbers. with the port throught the deck i cant think of an easy way to change out ports. so im gonna do port forward through the back seat and subs firing up through the rear deck. with this box though its port forward and sub back. i need a way to reinforce the back deck thought cuz all the cuttin im gonna do. it already has a layer of dynamat though

i was thinkin about those blade when i was washin my finger off. i wouldnt of been able to finish. cuz i just put one of the gloves i use to fiberglass over my finger and finished working.hah it sounds good so far, but i cant really make a comparison yet because im not using the power i usually use. I am planing on cutting up the rear deck though. Ive already got holes cut for when i put 4 aeros in it, this time im just gonna do a big square and cover it in grill cloth so ppl cant see in the trunk.
-
it did come out higher that i thought it would, but it works as for the finger. i was tryin to taper down a peice of 1/4" mdf, towards the end i had the blade up a little over 1/4" so my finger on top of the would got it. but the blade was good and low so nothin real bad. i was a little scared to look at it after it happen. i didnt want to see half a finger. but today i wore a finger condom all day to keep all the saw dust and crap out of the hole.

i got the port carpeted and put grill cloth to cover up the opening. I also put a layer of foam on the top so it will be more comfortable as and armrest for ppl in the back. It looks alright with the carpet, but once i get my vinyl for my door panels im gonna cover the port in the same color vinyl. I also got the box wired up and installed. it sounds great off just the 300 watt from my alpine five channel. Im gonna start on an amprack for the saz3000 soon though. once my alt gets back ill put the 3000 in. the port with its many many bolts takes about 30 mins to get on. and after i got it on i found air leaks coming form the carriage bolts holding the threaded rod in. so i had to take the port off and put it back on... a very boring hour. and it sucks with a hole in my finger too cuz it kept hittin everythin. side not. i tryied to set the amp gain with my oscope, but it stopped workin. i changed the leads and still nothin..
