  1. Wow...boy was I told wrong, so since I never play my system with the car off, should I remove the second battery to put less work on the alt? No wonder the lights are dimming since the gain is all the way up. you guys are a big help
  2. Just went to the car to check the amp and the gain is all the way up, I remember someone telling me to keep it turned up and just us the bass knob up front to adjust the base...I take it that was bad advice...lol or does it make a difference since the bass knob is coming directly from the amp itself, personally I thought it was the same as the gain but I guess not.
  3. Thanks everyone, when I pull off and get to a stop sign and start again I can see the head lights get a little brighter. Also if im at idle, the seat belt and shift lights do the same thing especially when I put a turn signal on. All wires on big 3 are secure this is why I figured it may be the alternator cause my car is a 98 which I brought in 01 and it has the factory alt still. Im waiting on the mail with my 180 amp alt today and im hoping this helps out.

Hi everyone, found this site online while doing some research....nice site
  5. Hello all, my set up is pretty basic..kenwood radio and eq, kicker 1200 mono class d amp for my jl 13w7 and kenwood 100x4 interior amp. Also I have a optima red top under the hood and a stinger battery in the trunk all ran with 0 gauge from and I did the big 3. I still have the stock 100 amp alt which im replacing with a 180 amp and also, I never play my system with the car not running. Right now my lights dim and at night when I press the gas pedal my lights get brighter, so will the new alt stop that? And whats the highest that I should have the gain on my sub amp? Thanks in advance for any help
