    Small Sundown Build

The CDT HD-62's are good speakers. They are actually better than a lot of high end components even though they are entry level. One of the best setups for the money when it comes to components is: CDT HD-M6 mids CDT DRT-26 tweets CDT EX-560i xovers

Why would you do that? That is a third of the power and JL makes the best amps in the world...

    fiberglass montero

You can pick up much better resin at a local marine supply store if you have one available. US Composits and LBI both make some fairly good products for those that need to order online. Select Products is another option but it is overpriced. Though they do have a bubble gum option if smell is a problem for you. US Composits LBI Glass

BRUSHES, BRUSHES, BRUSHES... Did you use anything for a release agent? Where did you buy your resin and what brand are you using? Brands like Elmers and Bondo are weak and shrink like crazy. Is the resin gelling up on you? If the resin is curing too fast you may be using too much catalyst. Try adjusting your mixture so it is not so hot. Another thing you can do to increase pot life is to mix the resin in a wider cup and keep the mixture shallow. This will help keep things cool. Since you are building an enclosure I recommend using some sort of woven mat. It is much stronger than chop mat and it lays flatter. Are you using any form of roller? You want to keep things as clean and flat as possible. This will save you a ton of time on sanding.

    Damn painters...
  10. Not to make this into pissing contest. but Ive been involved in audio for almost 30 years, having setup numerous CES high-end systems, not to mention freelaning as a setup pro. And I'm talking about SOTA audio. Clearly, I don't see a point to all of this, as I'm perfectly capable of making my own decisions. All I want to know is if BJ can build a box out of 1/2" material. If he can, I'll place an order. The rest is irrelevant. I'd love to heat from him! BTW, thank you for your input! Nope! Not a pissing contest my fellow Audio Guru. I haven't really read this post and wasn't even sure exactly what it was about. I saw a simple question and gave a simple answer. Maybe it will help out a reader...

Why No Love for the SD-1's?

I like these subs and they were tough to beat for the price. (Light, Loud, Clean, Effecient) I didn't have ONE unhappy SD-1 customer. What was everyone's opinion on these subs? Look. An unofficial 130dB off a "100" watt amp. Enclosure by James Taylor.

    Sundown going into protect

That may not be sufficient unless you have extremely good packing around the amp inside the carton. Did you include your invoice too ? The inside is well package from when I got it so i doubt that the shipping was the problem. (Wouldn't other pieces be messed up as well if that were the case?) Ricky did his part and I don't want him to take the blame for this. EDIT: I did remember to include it. Thanks, Curt The Sundown box should be inside of another box for sure when shipped. Brown paper isn't going to cut it with the shipping companies these days. I have seen some rough chit over the past few years.

Pioneer never had this issue back in the day. Bastards...

    SAZ-3000D question...

Weight makes a huge difference with that 1.8. Gen 2's are my favorite Integra's as well. Your car looks very clean. I wish Honda would go back to that style. I love the open interior in those cars. Low dash and large windows. How is the power antenna treating you? I noticed your windshield wiper return motor has burnt up. Those wipers should return to under the hood at rest. Classic Gen 2 issue. Have you had any problems with the speedo cable? It looks like you have some Racing Heart C2Evo wheels. Don't scratch em because I don't believe they make them anymore. Sweet ride. Make sure you keep us posted. Don't the doors look sweet when they are open with the windows down? I love the sashless doors.

    SAZ-3000D question...

I have been selling and installing car audio since the mid 90's. I have never stuck with one particular brand and I am constantly testing new products. I came across Sundown a couple years ago and it is no joke. I recommend Sundown to all my clients. Sundown is Underrated, underpriced and overbuilt. Not to mention they have the best customer service in the business. Your Gen 2 Integra is a great car for audio. I had a 91 LS Special Edition back in 97. You will definitely need the 200 Amp alternator but you can count on losing some MPG's. I recommend running 1/0 cables for both power and ground from your front battery to the rear. Even though it is an Acura the factory grounds are not the best and those cars are known for rust issues.

    Shorted out Sub/Amp?..messed somethin up

Just ground the RCA's. Don't mess with the internals. Pioneer has cut corner after corner over the years. Their DA converters isn't exactly one of their strong points either.

    Shorted out Sub/Amp?..messed somethin up

where is the pico fuse i just read another forum and it seems to be a big problem in pioneer/premier hu's It is internal and yes Pioneer has had this issue for years and they refuse to fix the problem. Try grounding the RCA's.

    Shorted out Sub/Amp?..messed somethin up

nice and indepth. ill be doin that to my deck tomorrow. and i also already have a relay wired to turn on fans for my sundown amp. so ill just disconnect the fans and use that to turn on the amp and see if that stops the thumping I recommend squirrel cage fans blowing across the fins. Here is an example of what I mean. Link

    Shorted out Sub/Amp?..messed somethin up

amps are grounded straight to the battery in the trunk which then grounded to the frame. power is the right side of the car. RCA's are right down the middle. My RCAs are about 5 ft too long so that extra bit is bunched up.(is that bad?) how do i ground the RCA's S-Curve the RCA's from the front to back so they do not cross themselves at any point. Yes, bunching up RCA's can cause trouble. You can also run some shorter cables. The RCA shield on the head unit is the outer part of the RCA plug. Ground the RCA shield by wrapping a small wire around the shield and then ground the other end to a screw on the HU. Do this with all of the RCA inputs on the back of the deck.
