    Went to Car Toys today....

Lets move it then instead of locking.. Keep the personal attacks to a minimum guys, or this will get locked again. Good idea. And don't take things personal on here fellas. We are all here for the same reason, a passion for car audio. I agree you shouldn' harass people but some definitely need to be put in their place from time to time.

    Went to Car Toys today....

Maybe I have misread a couple threads here but are you guys defending bullchit installers and salesmen? I have been installing since the mid 90's and have seen and heard it all. I love those who play the MECP card yet they have never even heard of a diode and can't even explain the basic function of a relay. The biggest joke is the "Best Buy Certified Installer". It kills me when I see that badge. Yes, there is a learning curve but if you work at Best Buy or some crap like that you aren't going to learn much and you definitely shouldn't claim you know it all. What sucks about the audio industry is the lack of regulation. I would like to see the industry governed because it is in some serious trouble. Anybody can be an "installer" and many shops don't require any experience whatsoever. You see all these punk kids come out of high school who have installed a few systems for friends and then claim to be the best installers in the world. These guys are picked up by shops like Best Buy, Circuit City, Audio Express and other BS shops. Many of these clowns hack up vehicles which leaves a mess for installers like me to clean up. You cannot properly learn this trade without some form of mentor or guidance and it isn't something you can master by taking classes, reading books or browsing forums. If you want to be an installer or want to know your car audio take the proper steps. Don't claim to know things you know nothing about and you won't be left looking foolish.

Is this an official Sundown product?

I emailed that dude a couple days ago on that amp.

    dual1 or dual2

You'll definately need a HO Alternator. You cannot just start adding batteries without uprgrading the charging system. Batteries are a constant draw on an alternator. My advice to anyone that does not want to upgrade their electrical and charging system is to run Sundown SAE 1000D's.

    one 3k @ .5, or two strapped @ 2?

Sounds like a good plan... That will be loud. What mids and highs you running?

    dual1 or dual2

What is the final load you would like to achieve? If you plan on running that amp at 1 ohm you will need dual 1 ohm subs. I would recommend Sundown amps over Hifonics. They are not even close to what they use to be. Not a whole lot of good comes from Maxxsonics.

How does this relate to Sundown?

    5 channel power

I am not saying I don't sell or install any 5 channel amps nor am I against them. I am simply pointing out they don't have as big of a market as one may expect. I would recommend US Amps, Memphis, eD, Audison, McIntosh, Boston, or Zapco for a complete systems amplifier. I have a few connections in the industry and can get my hands on just about anything. It all depends on one's budget. CDT and Sundown is what I currently sell and install for the most part.

    5 channel power

Most people now days think factory is fine. I have been selling/installing for over 10 years and 5 channel amps make up a very small percentage of the systems I have done because of power ratings, cost and size. It has been more common for the modest customer to purchase a 4 channel amp to power the front stage and subs running rear fill off the head unit than it has been for a customer to purchase a complete systems amplifier.

    5 channel power

Agreed, if we had a big power 5 channel I do believe they would sell. A 100.4 + 1000D in one chassis would really be the trick. Of course we would have to look into the size of the footprint the thing would have. Talking about big numbers with small amps back in the day. I ran my truck back in the early 90's with a single Phoenix Gold M25 (25w x2) it ran a 10" sub, 2 6.5", 2 4", and 2 tweets all passive and in "mixed/3 channel mode" No idea on numbers but it was plenty loud. I loved those amps along with '96 Opti's, HCCA Orions, Audio Art, PPI and many others. Thank the lord for Sundown.

    5 channel power

There it is Jacob. We need a 100x4 + 1000x1 5 channel amp. It needs to be under 20" in length and run about $750 retail.

    5 channel power

I have been installing since the mid 90's and still love the old school amps. 150 dB's off 25x2 amplifier was the shiznit.
  21. P-Dizzle

    5 channel power

Yes... Most 5 channel amps do not produce the best numbers but at the same time buyers now days have been brainwashed into thinking they need 2000 watts for every speaker.

    5 channel power

Everyone seem to want a 5 channel amp but nobody seems to buy them. This is the reason many companies have discontinued their 5/6 channel amps. They just do not sell. I have been beggin Jacob for a 5 channel for a long time.

    CDT amps

I know this is old but would like to clear some things up. This guy has been online for 15 years and he is an Authorized CDT dealer "Lightning AV"and Jerry is a pretty nice guy. It is hard to be accurate with CDT pricing because they change all the time.

    Bridging/Strapping

Weather you strap or run the amps independantly you are better off with dual 2 ohms subs. Run the coils in series if you strap or in parallel if you run each amp seperate. If you are worried about getting the gians to match use a test tone and a DMM.
