Thats dumb. Well the first post is outdated and useless.

Does anyone know why I cant edit my first post?

Work has been taking up almost all of my time lately. Sorry for the slow progress. Box is built and the Dcon sounds amazing. 2 cubes after all displacements tuned to 29hz. I will post some pics up and maybe a video when I get back to the States.

The ONLY way to do it logically is midbass + horns anything extra will just be a mess. VERY install specific, it all depends on what room you have and where you are putting them. Understood. I'm not looking for a speaker suggestion without stating any goals. I do not have any plans to ever need a 10" midbass. I'm just looking for some good reading material.

I am also liking this thread. Anyone have some experiences with some of the bigger midbasses? Any links? Build threads?

It will be well worth the wait. -
Anyone care to go more into using a PC and a mic? I'm curious as to what type of software and hardware this would take? Also can any go into more why Drew could not TA three tweeters per door? Is it because they are all in a slightly different position? Is it because the HU can't TA that many drivers? Just curious to hear someones take on this.

I am seeing 4 10's in my future...

I had a DD3518 in 9cubes tuned to 32hz. It dug all the way to 22 hz before I would start to worry about it. Btw, this was on a saz1500D at .5ohm. After taking everything into account and given the chance I may have chosen a different subwoofer for the goals that I set but the deal was too good to pass up and the results were nothing short of amazing IMHO. Point being that just stating that a certain subwoofer is garbage when you have probally never even owned one is not cool and very misleading to some of our more inexpirenced members. This wasn't directed toward you ,Duran, in any way. Just thought I would give you a case of the red ass lol. The lower models aren't as SPL based as much, you also need to take into account you had it in 9 cubes, of course the low end will be more pronounced Of course. You and most others know that DD/Audioque subwoofers can and do get loud and low .I would agree with most and say that you won't be winning many SQ comps with A DD woofer (while possible, just not practical IMHO.) 80% install, 5% equipment, and 5% beer.

I could see these being grabbed up for wall builds and for folks with limited space on a budget. I may pick up 4 10's and port them.

That's classic. Like my old man always says, " Why put off off what you can do now until later?"lol

Interesting read. Looking forward to some results! -
Maybe I didn't realize how lucky I got with the doors. I mean I have deadened my share of crappy doors. I am glad they are the way they are because I have to rip them apart again to finish the deadening and mount the woofers/midrange in their final resting place. Does it ever stop? I love being balls deep in the middle of a build. Not a better feeling in the world.

This will make a great replacement if ever begin too feel like the Dcon isn't the greatest value/overall performer in the 300 watt market (but I doubt it lol).

When I say dealer I mean the 20 year TDI mechanic that I purchased the car from. He won't charge me anything to pull the code. On another note. Black Ops anyone? My gamer tag is CajunJeeper on 360. I don't have a headset ATM, but hit me up.

The PVC will be attatched to the inner skin. I am not sure how that will happen yet. I'm just hoping to get some decent midbass out of my doors. Just tossing ideas around but it all checks out in my own head but who knows how credible those guys are. Lol I got the enclosure routed and mostly done with the filling and sanding while I was home. My check engine light came on while I was on my way home last night, so I am taking it in to the dealer to pull it this afternoon.

That's the goal! A high performance to cost ratio. But I guess that is everyones goals. I just got lucky and hit two nice group buys back to back thanks to SSA.

Bummer!! I am in New Orleans for the night. I am getting back to Texas tomorrow but i am leaving for my home in Louisiana shortly after. The build will be put on pause until at least Monday.

CS60CF - front stage CS50CF - rear stage SSA Dcon 12"- sub stage Boss rev-665 x 2 - Front and rear stage amps ( the other 2 will be used for a possible later build) No need clutter this thread. Here is the link. Colby's Golf TDI Build

I did get quite lucky with how the doors are built. Very easy to deaden. I have an idea that I want to try with sealing the doors with leaving the 6.5's mounted where they are with using a 6" PVC coupler. I guess you have to see where the speaker is mounted compared to stock. The speaker is mounted to the outside door panel itself. The factory location is 4ish inches directly behind where it is now. It is simple and not only will seal the door but also give the speaker something very solid to mount too. I'll have to look at it a little more and see if it can be done yet or not. I'll keep you guys updated!

Where are you in DFW? I'm in West Fort Worth on the base.

Yesterday was crazy. I did not get such work done except for installed the sub in it's new home. I will be out of the state and away from the build until Monday. Going home!
