  1. Yeah, they are too underpowered, many times people complain about how they sound until they can fully push them, then they love them.
  2. Had a 12" Fi BTL off 2500RMS in a 2.70cuft box @ 30Hz. Trunk setup. Have a different car now and was thinking 2x15" @ 600RMS each, sealed in rear seat area, facing forward (or backward). Was looking at RE Audio SEX series. Just wondering how it would compare to the BTL. Would the two 15's move more air? How would the lows be, and of course SQ difference be?
  3. Says the guy with an enclosure in cabin as well. Was also checking PSI Platform 1 15's. Might be another good option. Decent price. Seems like good bang for buck.
  4. I would also consider doing 2x15" SSA GCON's sealed. Or Skar VVX-15's sealed. Or original idea of RE Audio SEX 15's sealed. Not sure what to do here, but those three subs I like. Not sure if the extra wattage and enclosure space is worth it to choose the GCONS over the others, and if the SEX compare somewhat equal to the VVX's, on a price point I might as well just get the SEX.
  5. Sweet! Yeah, been searching for some dual 15 sealed setups on youtube, Seems legit.
  6. I don't have the car anymore, have a 2005 Civic Coupe now. How come you'd choose two 12's sealed over two 15's sealed?
  7. Oh, it was impressive.Maybe it's just me but I found that I listened to the same tracks on OCD repeat. Stock stereo in Civic right now, and find that I've been able to actually enjoy the music, rather that the result of it, if that makes sense. How is your sub amp connected to your stock stereo? It looks as if you have a huge peak in your response that is only sounding good on certain songs that you are unable to tame. That was a previous setup. I built three enclosures for the BTL ranging from different sizes and tuning frequencies, all sounded great in their own way. Listen, it's just how we all have our favorite demo songs, that sound 100% on our builds. There was nothing lacking, maybe I'm just looking for a flatter response or more woofer control. 8. I'm good, build it big enough so it doesn't move. No really, I'm confident I can build it secure enough, besides, I don't drive this car much, and do you tell everyone that who has audio equipment in cabin?
  9. So no one suggests two 15's sealed?
  10. Loud is not a priority to me, I'm just wondering how much air would be moved with 2x15's @ 600RMS each sealed compared to one 12" ported at 2000RMS. I ran the BTL for two years and listened to just about everything through it. I guess I just became obsessed with finding the songs that sounded best through it in my vehicle.
  11. The '05 civic is my weekend car, I park it in garage, not too worried about theft. I was also considering 2x15" Obsidian in sealed, according to T/S they should do well. Enclosure would be well secured, no worries, and I make it look nice. The front baffle will be at the same angle as the front seats. With each subwoofer behind driver/passenger seat and adequate breathing room. Yes, I will be sealing it from the trunk.
  12. The trunks on these cars hold no air in, and I don't like the feeling of all that weight at the back of the vehicle. What's a disadvantage to having the woofers in cabin?
  13. Oh, it was impressive.Maybe it's just me but I found that I listened to the same tracks on OCD repeat. Stock stereo in Civic right now, and find that I've been able to actually enjoy the music, rather that the result of it, if that makes sense.
  14. Do something else. What are your goals? What vehicle? Budget? 2005 Civic Coupe. Just posted goals. I'm doing entire system but budget for sub/s amp would be about $700.
  15. I don't care about loud, I want something that sounds good, where I can enjoy listening to the music and not just be obsessed over a few songs that sound optimal. Moving some air would be great too.
  16. Sealed box for the 15's would be around recommended specs that is 1.5-2.0 per woofer, of course I'd go bigger, probably 2.5cuft unless someone suggests otherwise.
  17. I don't have much room at all, so driver needs to be less than 3.5" depth. Looking for a dual 10" setup for sealed application. Was browsing what's available and came across: Pionneer TS-SW2501S4. (3" depth, 300RMS and 20-290Hz freq. range) Rockford Fosgate Punch P3SD410 (3.5", 300RMS and 45-250Hz freq. range) Now, judging by spec Pioneer would be the one to get, more shallow and more broad range, including <30Hz. These are manufacturer specs so you never know though. Don't want to spend anymore that $150 each, and something that plays a wide range including <30Hz, as flat response as possible. So far that Pioneer looks like a winner.

Bang for Buck Shallow Mount Sub. 10's

That looks good crackinhedz. Any videos? People have been saying that the shallow mounts don't like the lows, any experience with these compared to a full sized sub? Yeah Jon, the Clarion's actually do look decent, considering..

    Can't decide on speakers...

not them but i got the cxs62 v.2. shits are amazing I checked them out after your first post, a bit out of my price range, but good to hear!
  20. I'm looking at the Rockford Fosgate Power T1652-S for front and Rockford Fosgate Power T1692 for rear. However, I'm a bit scared of the aluminum tweeter. I've had bad experiences in the past with non-silk tweeters (Kappa). I liked the sound from my CDT CL-62's with TW-25S silk dome tweeter. The Kappa's would literally give me a headache and make my ears ring. While TWO sets of the CDT's I could listen to full tilt all day with no side-effects. All properly amped. Another option for me would be the Image Dynamics CTX-6.5cs. But don't know if they are too deep (mounting) for my 2005 Civic doors even with spacers. They have a silk dome tweeter, but I heard they are harsh!. So IDK guys, I prefer a soft tweeter with good mid-bass and looking for under $200 at best price. What do you think?

No love for the ID CTX65CS? Anyone have experience with them?

    Can't decide on speakers...

I had no idea, this is very good to know, the site I was looking at had the 1" aluminum tweets. Although the 6x9's of the same model are still just aluminum, makes no sense..

    Can't decide on speakers...

I had two sets of CDT CL2's off 600RMS in my old car up front, and just for kicks I disabled the rear amped CDT 69X. Did not like the way it sounded at all. Rear Fill FTW! In before you need to setup your front stage better...No thanks. I don't have time or pateience to do that when I'm perfectly happy with the way rear fill sounds. I plan on mounting them at stock locations. Thanks swift, will give them a shot! Yeah, I hear people favoring the T1 tweeets over the T2's.
