thanks for the replies and yes the amp will be ran in 4 ohm, so i'll just follow the manufactures instructions and use the y-cables i guess -

the reason i brought this up is because i have this old ass alphsonik(us acoustics) amp and the instructions were saying to use a y adapter and run the signal to a mono source..this amp will be powering a dual 12 4 ohm bandpass box -

Im a noob at woodworking and have a couple of questions for those that are experienced with routers. I currently have a porter cable fixed based router i snatched up from a pawn shop for $20. I wanna get a plunge router as well in the near future. Collet size is not an issue because both routers are 1/2 and 1/4 shank interchangeable. What kind/size/length bit do i need to do hole cutouts and also what size bit for roundover's for port edges? Assuming 3/4 mdf is being used. Thanks

cool, what size bit for roundover's 3/4?

i know your're doing 5.1, but to answer your question there's very limited content available in 7.1

dude that's alot going in a mustang, i have a 99 so i know about the space restrictions. you may wanna think about doing a rear seat delete for more space. Powermaster has a 200 amp alt avail http://store.summitracing.com/egnsearch.as...+115+4294880691 -
bypassing wiring harness
nickeveready posted a topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
well i got robbed back in july in addition to hu being taken the radio bezel was also ripped out along with harness. so im getting ready to get another hu, possibly the same one (pio deh-p4900ib). i was looking at the wires yesterday and none of the wires looked familiar to me. so my question is how would i go about running the hu off the batt? i know i can ground(black wire) to the - and yellow(batt) wire can be wired to + of battery. how do i wire the red(ignition) wire? somebody chime in and let me know what i need to do safely step by step. this is going in a 99 mustang if that matters. -

ok cool i'll look at that cuzz it doesn't have the standard colors for the wiring(red yellow black) -
try throwin that type s in 1cf sealed box. with sealed you can go prefab and im sure you can get a box off ebay for $40
-
off topic a bit, but you may wanna think about getting a nice alarm(maybe a 2 way model) before you put all that gear in. if you don't already have on one.
-
try some L brackets in the rear of the box
-
dude you haven't mentioned anything about the upper frequencies. what are you going to do about highs? if you're into sq then you should start there first and then worry about the low end later. just my .2

lol..classic Player's Club Line...R.I.P Bernie Mac

if your budget allows, i would sell it and look into the pioneer deh-p800prs like m5 said, i read the manual on it and that thing does everything except for bandpass

couldn't he run the rear preouts on that deck in full range for the midbass and get a 4 channel amp with a low pass cutoff of say 2k and then run the tweets from 2.5k or higher?im new to active, not being a smartass just want to know as much as possible edit:running in full range would open the midbass up to the subs frequency,so yeah that would be a bad idea

I don't think my headunit has active crossovers, DEH-4900IB Pioneer. Pioneer says that it has a 2-way crossover?? http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Pro...H-P4900IB?tab=B

It does, if you want to use passively crossed speakers, for this application however, it won't work... well, it will, but he'll have to use the amp crossovers. Nothing wrong with wanting to sound better. And tbh, there is no passive comp set that will be better than running active. At least.. without spending $1k on a set of Dynaudio 360's.
-
And you have experience with these? Perhaps in your backpack? well show me what you think will work please. i look alot but i have never heard nor seen any for my self. maybe someone can chime in about the comps..the only comp set that i've had was the alpine type x 5.25's. sounded decent but i know it's better out there. try looking toward cdt, pg, or boston. the last time i heard a boston comp set it sounded good to my ears but that was awhile ago and i don't know if they are still on top of their game. edit:forget cdt i forgot about the $300 budget If you can't name a decent comp set why do you think it would be better than say the CA18RNX I recommended? On top of that the X 5.25's would be terrible for the application, and the CDT's are way overpriced junk. While there is more hassle with an active setup, in his budget even with just the amp crossovers (which are FAR from ideal) the HDS/CA18 combination will compete with passive sets costing 5x as much. Your comments recommending otherwise are not based on any real experience m5, your recommendation is fine as a matter of fact that's the route i would go. but he clearly stated that the only music he listens to is rap nothing else, and on top of that he didn't want to spend any additional money on processing, that it why i made the recommendation i did.

AudioControl EQS for active
nickeveready posted a topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
would this paired with an Alpine iDA-X100(ipod deck) be a good match for processing if I wanted to run 2 or 3 way active? any thoughts from people who have or is currently running this eq. http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_6358_A...EQS+-GRAY-.html
