SECOND SKIN SOUND DEADENING, 40% DISCOUNTS

he has been MIA for a while, I think there is another SecondSkin dealer on here <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Thats what I was thinking... Should I try to get ahold of Anthony? -
didjyah realize you gave away the 15k post?

Exactly what gets me peeved. Tuning frequency is NOT completely independant. Every part of the woofer (from motor to soft parts) has it's own properties. But, thank you for pointing out the tuning frequnecy portion. Most people I see say "tune your box to this with this"... never accounting how much port area the driver needs. Much less so any concern over linearity. Transfer function & low end extension in-car is a whole nother topic. Again, IMO, unless you are serious about SQ or SPL... you have little need to run sealed FR testes in car. -but- It would not hurt any install... helping understand the acoustics of the interior. Reflection & cancellation can make it more challenging.. but that can be accounted for as well. My real problem here is 'kid's' stuffing a 3" x 9" PVC pipe into a 2ft^3 box for a Acme 12" and running 1kw to it. Then saying, it sounds alright... but not as much as I hoped for. Even though... the BOX is tuned to 30hz.

Not a bad Idea... really.
-
oh, duh: If SoundSplinter recommends 13.5 in^3 per cube... go with that. Unless you have your own program to estimate NFR graphs & vent property graphs.
-
Without having gone to that link myself.... I'm assuming that that calculator is assuming full ouput at tuning. Vent speed will be highest at tuning. However, you will NEVER reach full xmax at tuning with that woofer. The woofer become it's MOST efficient at tuning, moving very little air but with alot of output (if that makes sense). Debunking that calculator. I doubt that you need 28in^2 of port per ft^3. Not with that woofer at it's Pe.

Good point. I was under the impression that Home receviers are horribly inefficient... turning 110vac in signal's at something like 50%. So, the speakers being higher load, keeping current down, so that you dont need a seperate 30amp breaker in the fusebox for just the amplifier....?
