2ft net to 28hz with 24mm xmax & 0.2 qts... I'd try for (2) 3" pvc -or- (1) 5" pvc. It's gonna be tough tuning that low in that small an enclosure but still give the woofer enough port. Wait... you know that I get about 19" depth for 14.13sq^2. You might be alright with a single 4" aero @ ~14.5". I'll throw them at BBP6 tonight, if You like. -Nick

12" ported > 15" sealed for that woofer.

I really was hoping to get down there... but it's looking damned slim.

Yea, and I'd need to build a box, test & tune.

Shiiiiiit. I'll prolly need that long to come up with the fundage. LoL It's the weekend of 5/21. Hotel rooms are scare at this point.

Couple of things. Dayshift: Loan officer & Home Equity Retention Specialist. I work for a large regional bank handling current customers via telephone, email, and occasional face-time. Mostly trying to keep current loans & accounts here (instead of refi'ing elsewhere), also trying to drum up new business or relationships. Rarely busy, but when it does rain, it pours. Part-time: Pizzeria / Restaurant Mgr. Sat nights & Sun mornings I close / open shop at the joint that I've worked at since I was 17 yrs old. Good times. 30-35 folks, mostly teens, the usual drama amongst a rest. crew. Always busy. -Nick

*chime* Sorry for the delay - lol. Scotts right, mostly. You don't need as much surface area with round ports. generally of course Surface are of the vent opening > then surface area of the vent walls. My question for You is what kind of vB are you looking for? One 12" so I'm guessing 1.5ft^3...? If so, (1) 4" shouldn't be too bad at all - tuning dependant. I'm at work or else I'd graph it for You. With round ports - I look for a minimum of 7-8sq in of port per cube. With slot ports outside of 4:1, I look for at least 10-12 sq in / cube. Not a huge difference sometimes, but for smaller enclosures, 4 sq in means alot. -Nick

Without getting to far into the original poster's personal desires... I've spent more time & energy on the SX 15"s that I've had vs. the XXX 12" that used to be in the wife's car. Assuming: Same Box, Same tuning, Same car, Same impedance load on the same amps... I'm going to say that You could make the XXX louder. You have more available throw, a c-word hair lower sensitivity, and the xbl tech. *Xmax > Xmax is a given. *Sd is the same (810 cm^2) *Sensitivity @ 1m is +/- 1.6dB in favor of the SX. *The main thing is going to be the XBL^2 tech. Providiing a flatter, stronger BL curve will give the XXX model the advantage here... i.e.-being able to exurt more force/control of the cone over a longer throw could make up for the minute sensitivity difference. I'm going to say that giving the SX 2kw would be better then giving the XXX 2kw. We took the XXX 12" upto ~2.2kw actual with an amp per coil... It didn't take long for Me to not like the results. On the other hand, I've fed ~2kw to the SX 15" for a few songs with very little concern. I'm gonna agree that the XXX > the SX on paper for music. Even with a side of burp. In just burping the SX pwns the XXX. The SX coils will take more amperage and be happier about. You can really make those cones get out of the gap. The XXX, DOES bottom out, in my experience. I hope that this helps a little...

3kw @ 2 ohm with a 70-80% efficiency really excites me.
