Stepdown transformer won't work on DC and you don't want to tap off the middle of a battery bank to get 12V because you'll be boiling(overcharging) the hell out of the other unused battery. An exception would be if you had 2 12V batteries in Series and you could match the output of the amps connected to them... then you could charge at 24V and run 2 matched sets of 12V amps. To drop from 24V to 12V, you'll need a good switching power supply. Best solution is adding alternators or 120V generators.

I'll admit that if either variety of elephant stepped on you, it wouldn't matter if it were real or not.

That looks OK, but I'll ask for a second opinion because I'm not familiar with that source.

get a voltage gauge and watch it. Don't turn your car off if it's showing low with the stereo off. After a few weeks you'll know if what you have is OK or not.

Go to a buddy's house with a 256MB USB key :-p. It's worth the effort for what you're looking for. Or pay the ($49?) of course. That video and the pics that used to be there are damn good tutorials for making pods, boxes and modifying dashes.

Well to be more direct, the video I was hinting at is available on eMule. You can at least do searches here if you don't have the client installed. http://www.filedonkey.com/

Why? I have an older version that's probably not affected by whatever issue you have with it. If you don't like limewire, just get any other free Gnutella client. they all connect to the same place.
-
I'm not sure of the rules here, but if you seach limewire, emule(**) or piratebay.org for "glassman", you're likely to find something useful.

I don't think your stock alt will keep up with that. No matter how many batteries you have, if you play loud long enough you'll drain them all if your alt can't keep up. Low voltage makes amps run hot. So, either get a bigger alt or limit your time at full volume. A voltage gauge would help monitor it.

Yeah, there's nothing "constructed" between NY and London in this article unless you count the fiber optic internet cables or satellite links transmitting a signal that anyone here could duplicate in their own home. It's an art project sponsored by the same people who did that Sultan's elephant thing... lemme find it.. brb .. ahh.. here... INCREDIBLE stuff. It's not a real telescope between NY and London anymore than that's a real elephant :-)

Multiple amps on a single bass knob??
Gebrochen replied to oxsign's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
I think these are all built with simple rheostat/potentiometers that you can get from radio shack if you measure for the right value and look for the (logarithmic/exponential?) types. If you find that your bass knob is such a single pole potentiometer, you just need to get one of the same value in dual or triple. You can raise or lower gains to match with resistors in series. ... and yeah, that probably didn't simplify anything, but it's start if you're determined. -
[edit] I was wrong.. it's true http://www.snopes.com/politics/religion/australia.asp Dayum... seemed to good to be true. I agree with all of it and never would have thought someone in politics could ever say that.

I was going to point you here http://www.glassmanscustomforum.com/ to the photos section, but it's not working now. last time I looked there were 30 or more custom builds with detailed pics. They also sell videos about fabrication techniques.

No, it's an HD video simulation of someone's fantasy from (early 1900's?) ... I didn't read the link, but I know what you're talking about and it's just an art concept. Called a Telectroscope, right?
