I run a 10'' BL on a JL 1000/1 at 2 ohms. It's a great match up in my opinion. Sure you can send more power to the BL but I think it does just fine at 1000 watts...but this may be due to my enclosure being bigger than the suggested size thus making the subwoofer more efficient.

Send "Incriminator" or "IA2" a message. Hopefully they can give you a good answer on what size box to use.

I like #5

If you want to get the 1500d, which might be too much power for one Rl-p at full tilt, get the dual 2 ohm version. This way you can wire it to 1 ohm to see up to 1500+watts from your 1500d..

I think you'll be fine anywhere from 33-38hz. -
I've never heard one but they look like very capapble subs to me. I wouldn't hesitate to try one out if I were you.

SSA Icon 10" Test Enclosure (breaks 140db @ 24hz!!)

Where do you live? I have two 10'' Icons I could sell you if you're interested, depending on how much shipping is. -
Have you heard any "loud" in-car setups before? Maybe telling us what you consider loud will help with better suggestions for you. If I were you I would get a Sundown 1500d and a pair of Mach 5 IXL's or Incriminator LI's or something along those lines. In a properly built box they'll be plenty enough bass. Especially since you haven't mentioned anything about what you're doing for door speakers. Edit: I meant a pair of 12'' IXL's or LI's. This way you can put them in the trunk and not take up the backseat of your first car ever. Start simple and get more complex as you LEARN MORE.

What do you have for your front stage?

Just so there is no confusion its radius x radius Whoops...sorry about that. (Pi*r^2)

I came home from school this weekend and put together a new box for the BL....it's 1.6@37 and is suprisingly loud. This is definitely what I imagined when I bought the BL. So now I'm stuck between keeping the two Icons sealed or keeping the BL. The only downfall is the box the BL is in takes up a lot of room in my truck.

I was bored so I decided to take pics of a 10'' ICON next to a 10'' BL

If I don't see the manufacturer's specs for surface area I just figure out the area of the circle (dia*dia*pi*number of subs). ex: (2) 10's= 5*5*3.14*2=157in^2 ex: (1) 15= 7.5*7.5*3.14=176in^2 This won't give you the exact surface area but it should get you a general idea.

It looks pretty convenient, but I've never heard them before. A lot of companies, like Pioneer for example, will include an adapter to turn the factory 6''x8'' mounting hole into a 6.5'' hole. My ts-c720prs set came with the adapters and everything matched up and fits perfectly in my ranger. I would stop in a local shop to see if they had those Kenwoods and get a listen first before I bought those.

I'm going to be putting together a new box this weekend for a 10'' BL in my reg cab ranger. First off, the box will be 1.6@36-37 with (2) 3'' aeroports (Fi recommends 1.25). Will I run into any problems with having the box larger than optimal size? How should I put my ports? Here's the space I'm working with: Option 1: Option 2: Option 3:
-
Never really thought about it. I'd have to order another port from PE to do that. I guess I'll just see how this turns out first.....and if I don't like it I'll build another one with longer ports and have them stick out the top.
-
I can't make them any longer....I'll be using full length aeros as it is. edit: sorry I thought I already mentioned that in my original post.
-
Because the longer the aero the lower the tuning. So in order for me to fit (2) aeros with a moderately musical box I had to make the box larger than recommended for the 10'' BL. If I shorten the aeros or decrease the size of the box then my tuning will be into the 40's.
-
help
-
Then the tuning would be even higher than 36 or 37. I'll be using full length 3'' aeros and it will still be tuned moderately high. I want to fire up instead of to the side and I don't want the top depth to be too deep so 3'' aeros is the largest I can fit.
