I used to have a 10'' dual 1 ohm Fi BL behind my seat in my reg cab truck. I'm selling it now, pm me if you're interested. Here's video

You have 3000w going to one 12'' Nightshade? I finally got my 12'' Nightshade in my ranger but now the box takes up entirely too much room and I think I'm going to have to sell it

Mine came in the other day too! Now I have to figure out how I'm going to make this Fit in this

Sounds like a plan to me! And I remember seeing that they like .8 ported.....which is seems pretty small but I guess it works.

bed hugger, armor liner, SLOP (strongest liner out period)

15'' has the potential to be just as fast as the 12''

You shouldn't be looking into 15's or 18's. Just get a pair of 12s and keep them in the trunk....you'll have plenty of space for that and will still be loud.

Yep.

I'd appreciate any help you guys can give me on this.... I have a 12'' Nightshade on the way and need some help with the enclosure. I currently have a 10'' Fi BL in 1.6 cubes tuned to 35 hz in my reg cab Ranger. I know it isn't the prettiest thing in the world, but it's the optimum size for the 12'' Nightshade and I'd like to re-use it. My first problem is the mounting depth.....I'm going to have to add some spacer rings to allow the Nightshade to fit depth wise and obviously I'm going to have to increase the cutout to allow a 12'' 12 spoke basket to fit. I wanted to ask you guys what would be the best way to go about this? Should I make a few circular spacers around the existing hole where my flush mount baffle is? Or should I just add a couple square baffless that are approximately 15''x15'' with the cutout in it? I'd like to keep the fab work to a minimum and possibly use this as a 10'' enclosure again one day. I'm trying to avoid building a whole new enclosure because the weather is so bad out now. Thanks.

With 4 12's you'll only be getting roughly 625 watts a piece. RE Se's will do real well off that power and I think there's a site selling them for only $100 a pop. Edit: I just saw you said you had a pair of 2500s. So with 5000w I think 4 Nightshades would be an excellent choice. But in the beginning of your post you said you want 2 12s so I'm kind of confused which way you want to go.

bigjon, I sent you a pm about this the other day....did you ever get it?

Raamat all the way! Rick is a great guy to do business with.

I will. I rarely ever have anyone in the truck with me so I just have the seat all the way forward and then leaned back all the way to hold the enclosure in place. I just found out today that my Friday class is cancelled so I'm thinking about making the trip home Thursday night and start working on it. That means I'll have the 2.5 hr drive back to school Friday afternoon to listen to it (it will be ran at 4 ohms off the JL 1000/1 until I get my alt and saz1500d in).

Haha, yeah they will be. Well they're already pretty cramped with the 10'' BL so what's adding another 1.5'' to 2.25'' to the middle of the enclosure going to do to them, right?

2007 Ram Quad Cab blow through ??
tezin87 replied to Mark LaFountain's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
If you don't find the answer by the 19th of this month let me know. My dad has a quad can Ram and I'll measure it for you when I get home for winter break. -
Good luck with the build

Well your right, that isn't a fair comparison. The ICON really wakes up in a ported enclosure. And from what everyone of our customers say, it really gets the low notes. That's exactly why I couldn't recommend one or the other. And for what it's worth, both of my setups were in a reg cab truck.....so you can fit them in there no problem with some adjustments.

While the iCON sounds great, the BL has potential to get louder. I've ran a pair of 10'' iCONS off 1000w sealed and a single 10'' BL ported off 1000w and the BL is leaps and bounds louder than the pair of iCONS sealed. I know it isn't the best comparison because the iCONS were sealed and the BL was ported.....but that's my .02

I really like my 10'' BL. It sounds good on all types of music. Of course there are a lot better sounding subs out there, but the BL is a great daily sub. I have the p-chamfer, universal, and daily options on mine and it takes 1000w no problem. A $1000 budget for subs and amp can get you a great sounding and loud setup. I'd suggest you pick up the SAZ1500d, 12'' or 15'' of your choice, and use the rest of the budget to do the big 3 and maybe a battery if necessary.

Good start so far and nice choice with the BL!
