It does get pretty loud for what it is but I know it can be even louder. What do you have in your truck?
-
You're right, 1.7 is pretty large for a single 10''. I'll be building a smaller box, about 1.25, when I go home for spring break. It might take a while though as I'm getting my wisdom teeth removed next monday

If getting loud is your first priority, get the BL. I only put 1000w to mine and it was loud (for what it was) and still sounded like a good daily driver sub. The q, icon, and ixl are meant to sound good with getting loud being an added plus. If you are planning on using a sealed enclosure you can rule out the BL. Each one of those drivers you listed can sound good on all types of music and handle the power from the 1200d but it will greatly depend on the enclosure you are going to use.

Very nice work man. I would test first before painting. -

Very impressive. How much power is he sending it? -
Very nice review. I might have to give these a listen someday!

dylan... the " I SPIT HOT FIRA" guy? Hahahaha...dylon, dylon, dylon, dylon, dylon. The best part is when he chokes out Wyclef. It's a skit from Chapelle's show. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2PS-rKxwCeE

DC lv5 can handle those amps daily but I've never heard one. I have a lv4xl and it sounds good to me. I know projekt ai has done installs with a saz3000 on just one lv4xl.

Amp for 2 BTL's
tezin87 replied to treylittlefield's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
They are very good quality and great customer service. -
I don't have the electrical or the room for a bigger amp. Here's what it looks like:

It's pretty impressive for a single 10'', especially on the lows. I'm not sure what frequencies are on those songs from the vids but the xl kills the lower notes in rap. My dashboard vibrates, the weather guards on my windows flex like hell, the passenger seat moves quite a bit by the headrest and so do my mirrors but my camera is a piece of crap and doesn't pick any of it up. I've had a 10'' BL in 1.6@35 on 1000w, 12'' Nightshade in 1.5@36 on 1000w, pair of 10'' Icons sealed with 500w each, and the 10'' xl in 1.7@36 on 1500w. The Icons sounded the best hands down, the BL sounded pretty darn good imo and the xl is a little below that. The xl is the leaps and bounds louder than any of the other setups on the lows. I didn't give the Nightshade much of a chance because it took up too much room behind my seat. This box is a little too big too so I'm going to put together a 1.25@38 with a single 4'' aero firing towards the drivers side when I get a chance.

Nice...what size are those baskets?
-
You can buy 90s from Home Depot for real cheap.
-
If I decide to do a blowthrough on my truck that will probably be the setup I'll go with. Any idea when you're getting that put in?
-
A pair of 4'' aeros should be fine.
-
Welcome! Where in IL are you?
-
Sold it to natetate. The box I had the nightshade in was my old 10'' BL box with a couple baffles added to it to allow the nightshade to fit. This one has similar dimensions to the BL box.

The recent thread about the LV510 made me want to show off another one of DC's beefy 10's, the LV4XL
-
It will be more like 38hz. The box is only 30'' wide and 1.25@38 needs a 4'' flared aero that is almost 17'' long. Any longer than that and the port will be coming pretty close to the basket/motor of the sub since it's going to be firing to the side. I'm pretty confident it will still pick up the lows well enough. Maybe I can squeeze a little more out of it and go 1.35@35 or so.

Thanks, but I can't take the credit for this one. I gave some old jensen gear that was given to me to one of the carpenters my dad works with and as a "thank you" he offered to build me a box. So I gave him the plans from one of the boxes I built over the summer for my 10'' BL and he put it together for me and had it ready for when I came home from school for a weekend. Next time I go home I'm gonna build a 1.25@40 with a 4'' aero firing towards the amps.
