SSA Icons- 2x10 ported or 1x12 ported or 2x10 sealed?

i dont think it would really matter as long as you aren't blocking the port. if you have enough room with the ports fireing back towards the rear then do it that way. -

slot port would more than likely require a box with external dimensions of much more than 3ft^3 in order to get the proper tuning and required port size. why not go with two 3'' aeros or one 4''? -

i've read on here a few times that the saz1500 is a perfect match for two icons. i think you should get two 10's and build a 2.5@32hz and never look back. -
wow i've read through that multiple times and didn't put two and two together. turned out nice by the way.

but he's asking what will get him into the 140's also....not just sound the best. i don't think two tens sealed will break a 140 but it will definitely sound great. -
any update on this? i'm interested how it turned out.

Im up by Chicago so I know the local unions around here. You can just google Houston pipefitting union or electrical union and they will give you a local number (for example Houston electrical local 134). Go to their website and find out when the sign-ups are for each one, it may not be until for a while though. Then you have to take a math related test, drug test, and do an interview. I know around here this is a long process because there are a lot of people signing up for the trades and they can't take everybody. This is more of a long term solution than a temporary one becuase it may take over a year to actually get into your apprenticeship. As for temporary jobs until you get into a trade, go by local car dealerships to see if they need any porters. They don't get paid very well but it's a decent job, I did it throughout highschool and it wasn't bad at all.
-
Are you planning on going to school in the fall? It might be hard to find a temporary summer job this late in the year. But if you aren't going to school then I would suggest joining a trade, like electrical or pipefitting. You start off making around $15/hour and get raises every four months until you graduate from your apprenticeship (which is 4 years I think) and by then you are making nearly $40/hour. But If I were you I would go to school and put those computer skills to use so you can make the big bucks without breaking your back.

just curious......what is the mounting depth on the 12''?
-
I would only buy the 800D if it was the same size or smaller than the current 1000D. But this is only because I would be putting it into a regular cab pickup and space is a huge issue. But since 99% of your customers don't drive standard cab pickups, I don't think making it as big as the 1500D would be an issue at all. So do what is easier for you to produce because the demand for Sundown amps is there no matter what size you make them.
-
That was me with the small pickup. Any ideas on what I should do then to achieve the low, loud bass that I'm looking for? For example: tune lower or higher than normal, build a bigger or smaller enclosure than recommended by the manufacturer, bigger port or smaller port?
-
How will the dimensions of the 800D compare to the 1000D and the 1200D compare to the 1500D?
-
i've read on here that it is a good amp. most people on here will suggest sundown, kicker, or rockford.
-
no 1000's at the moment?
-
well congratulations it all looks real good

Any port noise with a 3'' aero? That would be the biggest I could use because with 1.25@33hz using a 4'' port would be impossible for me. But maybe that is your problem? Maybe you could go with a larger port if you can find somewhere else to locate it. Like maybe moving the sub closer to the passenger side wall and have a 4'' aero firing up towards the roof?
-
what are the dimensions of that box? what size aero did you use?
