has anyone else heard this "slapping noise" coming out of their port before?
-
I only had it hooked up for about 30 min last night because it was my first build and I couldn't wait any longer to hear how it turned out. Not too well I guess But I took the amp out of the truck and it is back in the house with the other pieces waiting to be installed.

I must say I was very impressed with the bl though. It is built like a tank and is much heavier than I anticipated. I probably won't be able to resolve the noise issue until this weekend when I get the seats and carpet out of the truck and have some room to move around.
-
My mounting hole is also a little tight because I didn't have a router or jasper jig. I just used a jig saw and left it a little small. When the sub came in today I used a dremel drill to make the hole just big enough for the bl to fit in. Maybe a little air is leaking underneath the mounting gasket or something.

If it is an airleak it is probably where I ran the wire through the box. I tried caulking around them but it was kind of a piss-poor job. The noise wasn't on the higher frequencies it was only on the lower notes where the air was really coming out of the port.

If you can fit a 4+ cubic foot box in there go for a 15. Remember you have to account for displacement for the woofer and the port, which can easily be over a cubic foot if you tune in the low 30's. You have to realize you are going to get mixed opinions from different people on here on which driver to get. Just read about each one, make a decision, and enjoy!

ok thanks....I have a vice at my disposal so I'm going to go that route I guess. Keep up the good work!

If you build a solid enclosure you should be able to meet your goals with a 12'' bl no problem.
-
The bl should sound better on music but the btl should get louder. It all depends on what you are looking for I guess.

what did you use to crimp the terminals onto the 1/0?

Kicker PKD1 1/0 AWG Dual Amp Install Kit Is it this one? Yeah, that's the one. I ordered it on 6/4 and it was $94.99 if you count shipping. Maybe you can send them an email and ask why it is $30 more now?

isn't this the second thread you started on this topic?

That actually made me laugh out loud. Thank you for that. -
speaking of which......I ended up going to the Sox game that night......and they won.

get the kicker hyperflex 1/0 kit. I just got it and its incredibly flexible. It can be found for under $100.

Oh ok. I had some 3/4'' left so I made some baffles this morning for the 6.5's. Turns out that 3/4'' is going make the speaker sit right up against the door panel, so I ordered some adapter plates off ebay. It only ended up being $13 with shipping so it was probably only a couple bucks more than buying some 1/2'' or a sheet of abs and making them myself. As for the tweeter, I think I'm going to take your advice and put them on that panel that goes around the door handle.
