I have a BL10 for sale. And I live in the Chicago area so I can give it to you for a good price. All you'll have to do is buy another dual-1 BL10 and you can run them at 1-ohm.

Thanks for all the great help guys. I appreciate you two sharing your knowledge with a beginner box builder. And you know better than I that it's very hard to get loud and sound decent in a standard cab pickup 95HONDA. I'm going to download WINISD and BOXPLOT and see what I can come up with. I may have to sell the BL for a treo of 8's or something and pick up another 3'' aero (two should be good enough for three 8s right)? Or I could do what I've wanted all along (a treo of 10s sealed) but I'm pretty low on funds right now.

Ok guys here's the deal...... I've built two boxes so far this summer and have had problems with both of them. I need to know the best spot to put the port in a regular cab truck, preferably a Ford Ranger. First Box: This one got pretty loud but there was a ton of port noise. It is 1.1@33hz with a 3'' aeroport up-firing. The reason I ditched it was the port noise and I didn't like how it fit behind the seats....too deep at the top. New box: 1.1@33 again with a 3'' aeroport. Now it fires into the corner about 4'' away from the side panel. The output dropped rediculously and also the bass is just so flat sounding....it sounds horrible. What should I do? I'd appreciate help from all you standard cab truck owners.

Thanks 95HONDA. What do you think of a 1.5ft^ft3 after all displacements with a front firing port that is 10.5 x 1.5 tuned to 33hz? Man, I need the name of a program that I can use to design boxes so I can show you what I mean.

Do you think a 3'' aero is too small for 1.1ft^3 and that's why I was getting port noise?

Memphis prd 1000.1 or Sundown SAE 1000D
tezin87 replied to conradl's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
I'm not familiar with the efficiency on either amps so I can't really comment on that. But I do know that Sundown amps are rated conservatively, so they'll put out every bit of what they say.....if not more. I like Memphis a lot, in my opinion they make great amps....but Sundown has my business/recommendations from here on out. So get a Sundown. -
That, sir, is one of the coolest things I've ever seen....congratulations.

Best shallow mount 12's to fit this box....
tezin87 replied to TwStDeVo's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
Is that box made to the exact maximum dimensions of the back of your truck? Or is there a way you or someone else could build one for you to gain more airspace? What about porting it for (2) 10'' Fi BLs? They're only 6.25'' deep and they can sit on the back of the box considering they don't have a pole vent. -
I remember reading that it was $250 as well and I want to say $150 for the BM

BM's would be sick if you can hold off until they come out -
Memphis prd 1000.1 or Sundown SAE 1000D

Both Sundown and Memphis make nice amps. I used a Memphis mc500d for 3 years with minimal problems. The only time something went wrong with it I sent it in to Memphis and they took care of it and sent it back right away (you have to buy from an authorized dealer though). Great little amp but very expensive for only 500 watts ($350 if I remember correctly). I also own a Sundown 100.2, not a 1000d but still a Sundown. Great amp, I love it. Unbelievable customer service and prices. You'll get a stronger, cleaner, better built amp if you go with Sundown in my opinion, with the bonuses of buying from someone who you can talk directly to and who'll help you if you ever have any questions. And at a great price! -
36'' wide - 12'' tall - 6'' top depth - 9'' bottom depth

That is awesome work
-
Thats a great idea The only problem is on the back wall there is a lip that sticks out so I would have to build around it. Might as well give it a try though. I'll probably just modify this box first to see if it works, then I'll build a new one.
-
Haven't tried downfiring yet....I don't really have the room for 11'' for bottom depth.

I don't really have enough room in my truck to fit a slot ported enclosure condsidering it is a regular cab. I already cut out the passenger side rear speaker trim to allow this box to fit, and I have the Sundown amp mounted to the drivers side rear speaker mount panel (if you look at my other build log you'll see what I'm talking about). Maybe this weekend I'll cut that off too and see if I can fit a regular slot ported box in there and just mount both amps on top of the enclosure. Thanks for the tip theabunai.

New box I built for my truck. It fits a whole lot better. I'm still waiting for my new port to come in but heres a picture with an old port. I'm not sure how I should finish the box. I wanted to paint it the color of my truck which is ford's orange/red rust color but I can't find anything close to it in stores. I'm hoping you guys can give me some new suggestions on how I should finish it. Once the port comes in I'll take pictures of it in my truck and let you know how it sounds.

But my new tweeters came in today...so that's a plus. SEAS NEW textile dome.

Thanks Hayes. I guess I'm going to maybe take the port out and put the sub on the passenger side and put the port on drivers side. The only reason I didn't want to port up is because I heard so much port noise. I can't afford to keep buying new ports....$22 a pop after shipping
-
Well my port came in today so I tested the new box out. The bass seemed flatter than before. And I don't mean a flat response, I mean almost like a one note wonder. Also, it wasn't nearly as loud as before. In my old box the sub was on the passenger side and the port was in the middle of the box firing up. The new one has sub on drivers side and port firing into the passenger side corner. Can the new sub and port position be having a negative affect on my bass response?

I have a 10'' BL and love it. I say definitely go for the BL.

When I was growing up my dad would say, "Never lie, it's easier to remember the truth." This saying sticks with me because I've had a lot of shady friends throughout the years that should have followed that rule.

I just read through the whole build and it looks great. You definitely did an awesome job with the fiberglass, keep up the good work!

Thanks guys! I'll check that website out right now. Can you use rattle cans over a textured paint, like fleckstone?

Good luck man....I hope you figure it out.
