Hey guys, i've been getting an anoying screeching coming from my component speakers and a deep rumble coming from my sub when ever the car is running, the noise gets louder as the RPM increases. Also when ever you change songs or turn the deck on/off there is a poping sound. I've had my system in for about 3 months now and this JUST started a few days ago. I didn't have this problem at all until now. I have My RCA's run away from the power wires, I also have both amps grounded to the same location. I tryed grounding the RCA's using some spare speaker wire, this gets rid of about 80% of the noise. My deck is a Kenwood KDC-X991 and my amps are a Sundown SAE-1000D and a Sundown SAX-100.2. Any incite would be greatly appritiated. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the assistance offered but i'm out of ideas. I'm going to take my car into a car audio shop and hope that they can fix it. -
Electrical Problem

I checked all of the grounds and they seem to be in place. I decided to unplug the alternator and the anoying screeching noise went away but there was still a horrible ticking noise coming through the speakers. So, i changed the head unit groud to the same place as the amps are grounded, which is underneath the rear seat. once i did this alot of the noise went away but it still there and when i touch a wire to the factory ground and back to the head unit ground the noise strengthens again. Also when i switch between high beems and low beems there is a poping noise coming through all the amped speakers (front comps and sub) any ideas?!? i'm not sure what to do next. -

Yes I did, no difference. As far as I know there are no corrosion in the cars electrical. -
Having troubles setting the gains on my SAE-1000D, i'm hooking it up to an SSA Icon 15" into a 1ohm load and am not quite sure that the DMM should read. I've visted a couple of sites and one person said that the volts should be at 31.6 but that is way to low. Was wondering if anyone could give some incite into this. Thanks.

Thanks for the help guys, just set the gain by ear and it sounds amazing. Just before clipping I belive, if not oh well. Sounds awesome anyways

Thats what I ended up doing. Sounds good. Another stupid question though, what does a speaker sound like when its clipping? mine sounds normal but I would like to see how I can set it before it begins to clip.

Thanks for the input guys.

hrm I see. Sorry for the stupid questions. Just trying to do it right

Ok, do you know how many volts there should be to produce 1000W?

Hey guys, I just finished putting my new system into my 94' Eagle Talon and noticed that I can here alot of highway noise which of course interferes with the music. I was wondering which areas of the car I should dampen to see the biggest difference and how much to use.

Ok cool, thanks for the replies guys. Lots of help.

Would a single layer of Damplifier pro be enough to stop the majority of road noise/vibration?
-
Ok cool, how much would you figure I should get so I can place my order.
-
Just the Damplifier mats? ive seen people talking about using the sludge and overkill but in my opinion that is exactly it, overkill. Unless it improves over using just Damplifier by quite a bit. Also how much of the Damplifier (pro) to do the entire car?

I live on Vancouver Island, go Canucks! haha
