Head Unit/Amp Issue!
Foxmoto replied to Foxmoto's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
I'm thinking that the deck's preouts are probably not working since the amp turns on and is sending a small amount of power to the speakers. The speakers/amp worked fine with my other deck. -
Hey guys, i'm having a problem with my front comp speakers (PG RSD 6.5) and the amp for them (Sundown SAX-100.2) I just put a new head unit into the car, its a Sony xplod CDX-gt 5. I know, its a garbage head unit but i'm selling the car and didn't want to give away my good unit with it. My problem is that there is almost no sound coming out of the front speakers even though i have the gains flat out maxed on the amp. Help would be greatly appritiated.

yes, should have stated it is an extended cab. The sub will be behind the drivers seat firing towards it.

Hey guys, my friend has a Ford Ranger and he asked me if having the port facing the door or roof would be louder. And I decided to ask on here for him. Reason because he is getting a box designed, what would the pros/cons of having it facing either way be? Thanks in advance.

I have to work today but i'll try these things once I get home and let you know of any progress, thanks.

yes, 12.9 on both amps
-
with the car off it reads 12.9, when the car starts it drops to 12 then rises back up to 12.9 right away. So does the other amp. The remote wire for both amp sits at 11.5.
-
This is with the car on accessory, i dont think its over heating since the one amp is working fine while this one is not.
-
Thats what I first thought, but I'm using the same ground as the amp for my sub and that one works fine.
-
Tryed that with two different batterys still the same thing, as soon as the car comes on the amp goes into protect.
-
Voltage seems fine, reading at 11.4volts on the remote and 12.6volts on the power. I'm using a mini ANL fuse
-
I just checked the amp when its powering up and the protection light comes on for 2sec then turns off =/

@Kharps I'll give sealed a shot, worst thing that happens is I order another box. If I run a pair of 10s they'll probably only pull maybe 300 wrms each. Whats the minimum to get these guys going When I first got my Icon 15 I diden't have an amp for it so I powered it with an alpine amp that gave it 240w at 4ohms and it sounded way better then the MTX 5500 10" that it was powering

I've had this amp for about a month now and yesterday as I was driving around I lost power to the front speakers. I thought nothing of it just thinking that the power wire may have slipped out. So when I got home I checked and the power wire is in, all the fuses are fine and there is power flowing through the power wire. The remote wire is also in and has power flowing through it. The amp does not turn on or go into protect. Not sure what else this could be.
