    New sub suggestions

Was the output of the MAW15's a great deal more or only a little? The biggest problem I'm having is putting the amount of bass (SPL wise) into figures... which is hard if you don't have access to a SPL meter! I've only ever run a Hertz ES300, a Phoenix Gold Xenon and the MAW12. All are 12" subs and output was roughly the same for each. I really want something that will really feel so to speak and I'm not sure if that can only be acheived with multiple woofers or will running one sub that can take a lot more power be enough. A single IXL would be more convienient space wise but I don't want to be left wanting more. Has anyone run a single MAW12 and can compare its performance to various combinations of other subs? Cheers
  2. Hey guys, Recently I asked you guys about building a ported box for my MAW12. Unfortunatly the box is still in the production stages but as a temporary solution I put it in a ~35L box I already have and wow! It sounds so nice and hits every note with a lot of definition. I was previously running a Phoenix Gold Xenon sub but I actually prefer the sound of the MAW so much more. The only real complaint is SPL wise I would like a little more out of the sub. I'm running it with a Zapco 500.1 which is conservativly rated at 500W into 2 Ohms (although the birthsheet indicates much more) so I don't think power is an issue and I can push the sub to its limits. I've always been a fan of sealed boxes and listening to the MAW in it makes me want to stick with it in one. On with the real point of this thread, I'm planning to put the sub and amp in my girlfriends car and she is more than happy with it as is and I now find myself needing a new sub(s). I'm running with a Rainbow amp that is rated at 1000W into 1 Ohm so my initial idea was to run 2 MAW12's or 15's in a sealed enclosure at 1Ohm. I've done a bit of researching and it seems that this would still give me the SQ I like but with double the cone area would give me the ability to crank it up every now and then. The only problem is, as I've just read, that the MAW series might be discontinued(!) and given the impedance of my amp I would only be able to run one IXL and I have no real experience with them as a sub. Any suggestions or ideas on possible subs? I should also mention I'm in Australia so I'm guessing it could be an idea to wait for the distributor down here. Would one IXL have the output of 2 MAW's and sound just as good? Also cheers to Mark Rogowski for getting the sub sent down here, its been a while getting it all setup but the waits been well worth it and I've got a few mates who are looking at getting some now based on my experiences. Thanks for reading
  3. Hey everyone, I'm going to try putting my MAW12 in the back of my car and I'm going to try my hand at building at building a ported box and I'd prefer to make it a rectangular slot ported box for ease of construction. I can make it about a max of 650mm in width 350mm in height and any depth... I'm not concerned much about being able to use my boot for this and after I hear it I might make another box down the track. I'm going to stick to the recommended 51L @ 28Hz so can anyone help me on how long I have to make the port and what area it needs to have. I understand that the port itself detracts from the volume of the box but do I need to concern my self with the port being not loud or anything else? Thank you, Kevin
