    Welcome to the IHoP

you can replace the boot if you didn't wait too long. if you don't have a "clicking" noise when you turn then it's all good. It's a molded boot. You won't be able to find a replacement as they don't make them. They will for ball joints. The tie rod end should be fairly cheap anyways, so just buy a new end. sounds good, they're pretty cheap. is there any special procedure to the replacing the tie rod end to preserve the aliment? Make a measurement of how long it is now, and when installing the new one, make sure it matches. alrighty, sounds easy.

good point. I don't attend a research institution but i hear the situation is a bit more cut throat when your job is dependent upon writing grants. personally i'm interested in acoustics. the research i'm working on is something of a collaboration with a Biologist who is studying Island Dwarfism of the Fowlers toad in Virginia (the sites include Assateague island and Wallops island on the NASA base). Essentially, the research involves analyzing the toad calls and creating a program that can synthesis new calls. The program could be used compare different call characteristics VS mate selections. There is a lot of acoustic research on frogs as well, couldn't maybe piggyback. They are interesting subjects as you don't have to kill them to get access to their inner ear since they wear it on the outside unlike any other animal that I know of. I do a shitload of hearing work. If you are truly interested in acoustics let me know if there are particular fields. Particularly parallel to me in many regards. Degreed physicist with a focus in acoustics. Every company pretty much in North America that does acoustic work I've either been in or called into. If not me, of course someone that works for me but the ones of note I usually go with to push things along. The hearing aspect of the equation is something i've been interested in. However, its outside the scope of the current work we're doing. The female's hearing is something the Biologist is interested researching in the future. Probably a few years down the line. I'm still in the process of figuring out what particular field i'm most interested in. So, i'll definitely keep in touch.

    Box/port too small?

from the looks of it, the port does look too small. measure the port area. that is the length and width of the port (on the face of the box, not the depth in extends into the box). if we know that the port area is too small then no need to measure anymore because the box is garbage.

cant seem to find just the tie rod boot. 00 oldsmobile intrigue could just get a whole tie rod end for like 15 bucks and swap the boot. assuming the boot matches.

    Head Unit Powering Coaxil's

fullrange amps are not hard on the electrical. not sure how your other amp is installed. might be as simple as adding a distro block and adding the 4 channel right next to it. another idea would be add a 2nd run of power wire for the amp. 8 and 4 gauge kits are pretty cheap <50 bucks. if there isn't any room close to the sub amp you could mount the 4 channel under a seat. if you want/need to run a smaller size amp look at some of the full range class d's or small class ab's like these from massive audio http://www.sonicelectronix.com/cat_m545_i25_massive-audio-4-channel-amplifiers.html perhaps others would disagree but another way to simplify the process would be to run the speaker wire up to the door jam of each door and tap the speaker wire there. imo stock speaker wire should be ok for a short distance. saves tons time of wiring, removing door panels, etc. i've seen some installs where people just run the speaker wire up to the headunit and use the factory wire to run to the doors. not sure ghetto rig things that much in my own car haha.

I'll finish my BS is Physics this fall. I think your future as a researcher, if that's your goal, is to do some quality shit before you graduate from grad school. that pretty much determines if you'll get a job at a research institution or teaching institution. there are a few really popular areas that make "big" discoveries, but i would say the average physicist is usually working on some really niche research. i was going to do an engineering degree, perhaps mechanical, but decide to see how far i can get in physics. Started some research recently and having a great time working on it.

Need help adding to the front stage.

come on dude.. make a decent thread if you want some help. give us some specifics on your past install and the state of you current install. other stuff you have heard and liked? have you done any deadening in the doors yet? what equipment do you already have, amps, hu? music tastes?
  17. maybe some right angle rca adapters will give you clearance around the amp and lc2

Check what deals Newegg or Amazon has on Sennheiser's. thanks, i'll check them out. got a cheap pair of sennheiser ear buds, pretty decent for 15 bucks. i'm curious as to when you approach diminishing returns with headphones. to be a bit more specific, none amplified, full size.
  20. dont know about the plexi. inverting only removes the subwoofer from the box. so the box volume will increase some what because the subwoofer is not taking up room in the box. in some situations you may notice a difference in frequency response. when your planning your enclosure design accordingly.
