The guy is pretty nuts in general. Former member of the weather underground iirc. He was fired for writing the article even though he had a tenure position at the university. regardless, interesting article is interesting.

Waiting for the: "yeah that." response now... Canada doesn't have to spend shit on defense because they don't fucking meddle with other countries. After we were attacked we should have shown no restraint and just bombed the whole middle east? Come on now. We didnt crash planes into anyone else. We didn't bomb citizens. We could have, but thT defense budget is so big because we are trying not to kill. A carpet bomb of the whole middle east would cost a shit load less. And less American lives. But since we are relatively ethical here we didn't and we don't operate that way. The alternative of not doing anything is also asinine. Even the asshole in office, who said he would pull out in 6 months when starting the campaign, saw how stupid that would be. We could either statt with some ultraviolence and ruin the entire sub continent, or we could be as peaceful as possible. Then Obama lost perhaps the greatest peace keeping general of our time and the most informed on the area and how it works there. That cost years and lives, and the whole place will collapse if we leave. If the US gets attacked by terrorism because we are spoiled and fat, what do you think will happene when we are spoiled, fat, and left people there to rot under some shit regime? The hatred for America stems long before 9/11. one of my favorite essays. http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1333883/posts

kids today are fucked up because their parents are fucked up and the parents' parents fucked them up. every generation blames the next generation for their problems.

All my epoxy recones have been clean, weird... me too.. thats what i use, but then again most the subs i recone are sundowns and the spider sit inside of a valley.. the BTLs i have done come out a little worse, as the spider sits on top of the rim of the landing. the first tube of epoxy was really runny. so bad that i took it off and cleaned it before it dried on. got another tube and it was much better. the spider landing on the icon sounds similar to the btl and its a bit skinnier than the surround landing. also had some drippage from the screw holes. as long as it works i dont care, not my sub

Great deal on a 4 channel

With a passive component set (such as your Focal) the passive crossover provides the function of "directing" the frequencies to the appropriate speaker. When running active, you eliminate this passive crossover and run one speaker per channel. But you still need some way to "direct" the frequencies to the appropriate speaker, so you have to do this "actively" with a preamp level crossover that comes either before the amplifier or with the crossover built into the amplifier. Then there's bi-amping, which is running one speaker per channel but still using the passive crossover instead of an "active" crossover. To do this you need a bi-amp capable passive crossover, which not many of them are anymore. Active is the new internet boner. Most people doing it don't understand or aren't truly benefiting from it, but their e-friends told them it was better so they went for it. It's sort of like the audio version of weed.....everybody's doing it, so it must be cool and their friends peer pressure them into it, so they give it a try too. the jbl ms8 with its autotune really caught on with these people. fucking incredible

Great deal on a 4 channel

I ran a set of pg rsd active for a short time. The reason for was simply because i already had the set and i wanted to learn how to do active before jumping on some better speakers. So there are some reasons for it. But i would never suggest that you should buy a comp set while planning to run active.

    independant voicecoil powering

you could wire the sub in series to 8ohm and bridge to the rear channels on the amp. might save some wire.

epoxy is really messy, i think i'll go with ca glue next time. it worked much better when i built the mj18

never soldered these flat tinsel lead before.. why does an Icon need 4 leads per coil? seems excessive.
  18. cool stuff op. my idea would be to offer waterproofing for the spacers. truck bed liner for example.
  19. completely incorrect. mounting a tweeter close the mid has both its advantages and disadvantages. the same can be said for mounting the tweeter away from the mid. if you would like to discuss this topic post another thread.

    Worth It?

I can't tell you what the problem is because i don't know what your install consist of.
  21. i'd go with the gcon over the psi. listed ts parameters for the psi are incorrect on the site so you cant even model them. sd should be >800. looks like specs for the 12" T/S Parameters for standard Platform 1 15": Revc = 2.9001 ohms Fms = 27.8340 Hz Zmax = 21.4774 ohms Qes = 0.7948 Qms = 5.0914 Qts = 0.6875 Sd = 490cm^2 Vas = 70.3680 L BL = 10.3991 N/A Mms = 169.4703 g Sensitivity = 84.5559 dB @1W/1m Sensitivity = 88.9626 dB @2.83Vrms/1m Xmax = 32mm total Usable Excursion = 3" total

warning, link to diyma. check out the A pillars this guy is doing,. At first i thought it looked like cool idea, but i'm thinking that you would probably get a ton of weird reflections with a tweeter so far behind the molding. edit: i'd ask the op on diyma but i know its being done for aesthetic reasons mostly so why bother.
