  1. in your case the port takes up vital internal volume. so by shifting the port outside the box your increasing internal volume while retaining the tuning. you could put a right angle on the port and extend it up along the side of the box or along the floor down. the side of the trunk. if you want to see how the sub performs i would extend the dimensions to give the subs the best conditions possible.

research meeting in 5 hours. piss
  3. i wouldn't waste money on a PR. already lost money buying the skars. i was looking at pics of your car's trunk. i think you could fit a larger box or are you keeping it small to save space? i found this. http://www.skaraudio.com/manuals/VVX8.pdf i need sleep so hope this helps for now.
  4. can you do an external port? as in a pvc port that extends out of the box?

great movie. probably 2nd best of the year on my list, the hobbit being first.
  7. I was testing my nexus 7 on a generic car charger, tons of fucking noise. hopefully running power and ground from the rear will fix the noise.

What 12 inch subs to use?

how about you take some measurements first so we know what usable air space you have. i dont see a reason to build 2 separate boxes when you can just make 1 larger box. unless getting them through the truck opening is a problem.

Where are you looking? Anywhere really, would be nice to work close to home and not have to pay for an apartment. I'm slightly more interested in going back to school but i'm looking for a job for a year or so. This app was for an acoustical engineer position with 3M. It was more of a practice application, just trying to get into the habit of applying.. Ok if you are looking my way let me know so I can give you some help/ Thanks! I haven't looked out that way yet. I don't think i'm in a position to be too picky. I have friends who recent were hired at nuke plants in PA and MD. Pretty decent money but I've never been particularly interested in those jobs.

  12. i think SSA has some recommended enclosures on the site. i wouldn't wire it to 1 ohm.

finally applied to my first real job since graduation. being too lazy over the holiday, 6 months till loans start coming in, gotta get busy.
  14. my cheap ass dmm wasn't returning realistic values. i'm definitely going to try it out before buying a line driver. it might have enough juice to work. i thought about sticking my old hu in the trunk but i'd rather not.
  15. actually this jl piece w/ built in volume control. JL Audio CL-RLC http://www.crutchfield.com/p_136CLRLC/JL-Audio-CL-RLC.html?search=JL_Audio_CL-RLC&skipvs=T#details-tab trying to spend less but if it's convenient then i dont mind.
  16. something like this? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Phoenix-Gold-PLD1-Professional-Line-Driver-/281044119858?pt=US_Signal_Processors&hash=item416f88f132
  17. I've look around a bit but i can't find any specifications for the nexus 7. some other tablets have ~.5v out.
  18. that is a good question. i think sean used a line driver in his boat install. the minidsp is either .9v or 2v max input. i'll see what the tablet puts out.

    WTB minidsp

Thanks! i'll probably just buy two new units next week if i cant find anything.

    WTB minidsp

I'm looking for a pair of minidsp's and a minidc isolator. I'll be ordering new units in a few days if i cant find a better deal used.
  21. a gain knob from another amp might work. i might have one from my bro's install around. so far i haven't found one keeper than the option i linked above. i would have to see if i can use a single minidsp pot for both units. though it might be more convenient to use the rca volume control because it wouldn't require running extra wires from the back of the car.

    Fi Audio Sub

if that isn't loud then you got something wired up or installed incorrectly. we need more info on box specs. also verify that the subwoofer is wired in parallel to 1ohm. a grill for this sub would probably require some fab work. perhaps counter sinking the sub and using something like this so that the surround doesn't impact the grill. http://compare.ebay.com/like/170906147213?var=lv&ltyp=AllFixedPriceItemTypes&var=sbar
