Don't spend your money on student loans. Just volunteer for a few years and your loans are paid off. Seriously.Pluss you need a BenzitoVolunteer? There's a few internships I've been looking at over summers, and for a PhD it looks like I could find funding from TA, research, fellowship, but for my BS or masters route I figured it was pretty much all coming out of pocket. Then again I don't know that much about the financials of college. ya thats pretty much correct, i haven't heard of anyone getting a masters for free but phd's in the sciences are (and if it isn't, don't go there). i'll be applying for schools this fall/winterMy cousin got her Masters for nothing, and is doing the same for her Phd. She got her Bachelors at the U of A and then got into a job in admissions. She pays some crazy amount like $20 per credit hour, and she just received 10k from some sort of grant that she doesn't need to pay back. Rare for the masters degree to be free. your cousin must be pretty fucking smart. Typically a phd student receives free tuition and a stipends of roughly 20k a year. maybe less for a TA or more for a RA. then you have the grants and other shit. My friend's gf did her masters in Industrial Engineering at PSU but had to pay full tuition. I think she tutored for a little more than minimum wage. However, she got a job before graduating and now makes some pretty serious bank.Getting a Masters is somewhat irrelevant, either go all the way or don't bother. Was perfect for me. Allowed me to wait out the bad times. (I made enough with my RA to pay tuition and live). I got a taste of the acedemic world, but wasn't a fan of the university part of it. Also gave me a leg up on my job. I'm not sure where I fall on the academic vs industry side of things yet. I do have some undergraduate research experience and my paper should be ready to submit soon. wish i would have done an internship while I was still an undergrad and then I might have a better sense of which direction to go.

why a q? a band pass would make the most sense for a blow through.

"More than 3,700 scientists from all 50 states participated in the study, offering online responses in June and July 2013. They offered sobering assessments of the state of their profession. Eighty percent said they were spending more of their time writing grants now than in 2010, while 67 percent said they were receiving less grant money now than they were back then. Only two percent of respondents said they had received money from their employers -- predominantly academic institutions -- to make up for the loss of federal funds." http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/08/29/sequestration-scientists_n_3825128.html actual study http://www.asbmb.org/uploadedFiles/Advocacy/Events/UPVO%20Report.pdf

yep, physics. But i'll probably apply for some masters programs in ME, EE, or acoustics engineering. Job outlook seems better for a masters in engineering. Even if I go for the phd i'd be sure to stick to programs with the masters opt out thing which you Prof is describing. Certainly would burn some bridges if you drop out of the program without a good excuse. Though, I hear it's abused a lot by foreign students to transfer to better schools.

I would have questions when I do my car PC. I am not doing a carPC as the Nav systems for cars blow goats. This will be Android based. Really curious how you are making it work. Particularly the volume overlay. Is this piggybacking off another system? Would you use the Android tablet as a front end then run the audio directly into a PC? Pretend the PC doesn't exist. The PC for me will only be so I can run 3 way active, ie a more flexible replacement for a miniDSP. Found a PC for basically the same price as the mini so why not I don't have it all figured out. I need a different tablet as the Tab 2 will not allow the use of a USB hub and that is a pre-requisite as the steering wheel controls, FM Antenna, Hard drive, backup camera and other peripherals will be USB. how will the pc be powered and so forth? do you have to power down the pc manually before shutting the car off? also, mini dsp's had a price cut recently. at least the 2x4 models i believe. Since I have to add a Keyless go my plan was to add a trigger to start the PC when the car unlocks. Ought to give it enough of a headstart to come to life by the time I hit the go button.PC is more flexible than the miniDSP. Gotcha. Im curious how you'll access the pc for tuning? My first idea was to run vga/dvi cable up and usb upfront and sit a lcd monitor on the passenger seat. Not the most elegant solution. Then i was wondering if you could use the android tablet and a remote access app to access the pc. Your would probably want to add a bluetooth keyboard and mouse to the tablet. Apprently its possible, . sorry for all the questions, this sounds like a pretty awesome project.

You think you have enough experience to properly install a 3 way set up.If I put three's up there it will only be a 2 way installs in cars with really nice interiors always interest me. are the stock pillars upholstered in suede? would you flock your finished pods or go with another material? Flock? If he is good like me he would wrap in suede. i thought suede isn't stretchy
-
this had me thinking about past a pillar installs i've done. and whether the 3" should be in a pod or vent out the back. i was thinking about playing around with my brother's install. using duct seal to seal the back of the pod.

my other work (a pillars) have held up pretty well but those were flocked instead of painted. if that matters

The med dark pewter is GM's color. The bondo will seperate from the plastic due to shrinkage and expansion differences. Vette panel filler should have been used but its a bit late for that. You will want several coats of epoxy primer the whole panel sanding between coats. The SEM dye is extremely thin so you will want the finish as smooth as possible. I,d go to at least 1,000 grit and test a corner. Or if you don't want it smooth you can use SEM texture finish. thanks, guess i jumped into things a bit too quickly. not a big deal in this case considering the car has 215k miles. next time around i'll know better. should I use any degreaser products before primer?
