arc audio amp, looking for components
lithium replied to Wackzirth88's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
lots of ways to seal the holes, making fiberglass covers is pretty common. Making a baffle require wood, a jig saw, and something to water proof the wood. First you need to take the door panels off and measure if it will fit. The stock speakers in my previous car were 5.25 but i managed to fit 8" midbass drivers behind the panel. So the stock size doesn't necessarily restrict you. -
Icon would work. Gcon would work if you cut back the power. check the forum for used gear.

Need a respirator for fiber glassing. Any recommendations?

I was checking my brother's data usage. 0.003 gb over the 2gb limit with 3 days left before the cycle ends. $10 overage fee.

I played around with verizon's shit. $260/month for 10gb shared data and each phone is at the 2yr contract price. so $100 for the htc one m8 for example (some are free). You could drop the data allowance down a bit as well. i'M sure you've already done this but i wanted to see if its worth changing my plan around. There are 3 of us with smart phones on our plan (~$210/month). Verizon is the only 4g network around here. And the 3g isn't great, i've had trouble streaming pandora on my previous non-3g phone.

the volume of the space where the enclosure is going.

alton spells out the reason for lookings at 10s pretty well. more options, more output, cost saving ( 1x 10" cost less than 2x 8" typically), etc. Model a 10 vs the pair of 8s. or link me specs and i'll model them for you. The only reason i see you going with 8" is if you're box is limited by the diameter of the subwoofer. Which, is probably not the case considering downfiring or upfiring boxes are pretty common for under the seat truck boxes. as for a ~1000watt amp i suggest a ppi p1000.1. Its small, does rated power, and its cheap. Easy choice imo http://www.amazon.com/P1000-1-Precision-Power-Monoblock-Amplifier/dp/B005KW10ES

i have an AA arsenal 12" from around then, really solid sub. These specs are probably correct. I dont remember the arsenal line ever having a revamp. http://defiantaudiollc.com/ascendant-arsenal.html

Mmm so jelly

if you can make straight cuts with a saw then building a ported box is just as easy and a sealed box. You would just need a design with a cut sheet. measure your space and come back. We can check if the redesigned enclosure SSA has will fit or not.

Well you're on the SSA forum so why not check out the subs they offer or the brands they carry. A SSA Icon could be a good option for example.

No need for CCF on the roof, Thinsulate is pretty much the only thing you can use that actually absorbs sound for a car installation. Foam would have to be much thicker.http://www.sounddeadenershowdown.com/how-to/roof i think don is the only one who does.

Deadened the roof today. Someday i would like to order some 3m thinsulate acoustic from Don. used 10 tiles on the roof. 6-8 tiles would have been plenty but I have like 30 tiles left to use in the front doors.

Thanks! Though, I really want to replace the front stage amps (everything but the cadence) with a pair of ppi900.4s to save space.

if you know or could figure out the xover points from the passives I would start there.

I'm trying not to spend a fortune just reinstalling this system so i skipped out on color coding the wire and all that jazz. All i can say is, it looks more tidy in person. I'm surprised I got this in the trunk on my own. retained access to the spare tire deadening the roof tomorrow.
