the front must come first. ill make a new tread soon with some Q's concerning some budget speakers, although the pg rsd's, surprisingly, are pretty decent. i cant help my love of subs... im 19 so i guess ill grow out of it...
-
i got mine before they went dealer based. the AA was about 20 bucks cheaper so not much difference. i think, if i would consider an ixl, id have to go with a 15. are these ok for ib? id like a sub i could try ib and if i dont like it i could throw it in a box. i would consider an mj18m but i dont have the height for an 18 ib. i should really stop looking at a sub when i really need to pic out some mids and tweets first.
-
i wish i could find a comparison between the ixl 12 and my AA arsenal. price wise its the same and i always wondered if the trade off between the two would be worth considering. im sure i could get 200 for my sub in its current box locally...

i really dont understand how anyone can sit in a car with that many speakers to begin with... maybe your hearing is shot or something... or maybe im wrong and we've all spent hours messing with xovers and TA for nothing... i mean who need TA when the speaker is practically in your ear right? haha seriously tho just cut the rear stage and through some g's on the front. you wont be disappointed

its not that hard to set up. even with some very rough xover setting my front stage sounded better active then with the passive cross over. (pg rsd component set)
-
wow thats interesting i pretty much ruled out a 6db slope without giving it a shot. i like how i have it set up now but ill deff try some larger underlap.
-
try 18 and see if works out for u better and deff try the under lapping aswell. the reason for the under lapping, i believe, is that the tweeter and woofer would be playing some of the same fequency around the xover point so u underlap to keep thing less peaky. im sure m5 will clarify this...

is there a certain place your selling the amps for people who are trading up? it would be cool if u made like an ebay store or something...

deff try the 2way first. i got mine up and running around xmas and i still mess with tuning all the time. i have no doubt that jumping int to a 3way set up would only cause u frustration... it will be some time till i attempt it myself. -
what is your budget? cause if u play you system like you did with that backpack thing your going to have that whole school looking to steal your chit. im just being honest man, please dont go thru all the trouble of putting in nice gear and skimp out.
-
just get 2 type R's and a some amp that makes decent power... why put more then that in a beetle. chances are you'll skimp on an alarm and end up getting your system stolen....
-
nice box. ashamed to see the eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee's in there haha
-
yeah ive always heard good things about them. if anyone has run a different tweet with the carbon with good or better results please let me know. (budget is a concern aswell)

i really enjoy tinkering with my equipment and moving things around. however i feel that my sub (AA arsenal 12) is too tall for the application i want it for. i was just wondering if its possible to recone it to an 8"? id like the smaller size to conserve some height. however i really dont have any need to make the sub smaller... im just interested in whether or not it can be done. i also understand that it wouldnt be worth the money but i cant help thinking it would be somehow fun to do and make my system more unique...

first we got pics of the doors sealed up. unfortunatly i did this in the cold and the clay i used around the woofer baffle in the driver side door didnt hold up. heres the tweet and woofer with the door panel on. i may try the tweet up in the factory location but they are sounding very good where they are now. hu. the trim piece that would normally hid the sliver mounting sheath thing will not fit due to the factory molding. i plan to take some black spray paint to cover the exposed silver/gray color. this view is equivalent to looking back from the front seat. however i positioned the camera lower to show the exposed endcap of the 250.2 this is why i want to get the rack more snug to the rear deck... however if you sit in the seat and glance back u cannot see the endcap. here is the basic layout of the rack before mounting. here is a view from the floor of the trunk. sub and box looking sassy haha the terminals are bolts... if ur wondering why they are off to the side its because i want to add the another pair and wire the vc's to them separately. need more wire first... view of amp rack from trunk. (notice the home made uber speaker wire for the sub!!!)

guess ill start this log in case i run into problems or question. comments are welcome. equipment is already baught and on the way. front stage- pg rsd 6.5s component set. going to run it active till funds allow upgrade. also have a set of polk tweets i may try for fun. sub- AA arsenal 12" currently in a 2.2 net tuned to ~30hz. also have a sealed box laying around. i may eventually have one of fisher's hybrid horns boxes designed up for me to try out. goal is budget. i wont call this sq because it definitely isn't. its how i want it to hear. front stage amps- kicker kx250.2 on mids and kicker zx100.2 on tweets sub amp- kenwood excelon kac x10d in the mail- (these items are my xmas present from my parents to myself... haha so no install till after the fat man comes) i think i did ok with 400 bucks to spend.... krukonceptz-(showed up today) ground distro (sold out of fused distro so ill just use my walmart pos for now) 3 pair of 2 channel klarity cables (the cheap ones) 8 gauge blue and white (12' of each, because i may move my amp rack...) ~~~~this is the Al and Cu (KLMX) stuff that ive heard some people complain about. ill see how it works for me. ---------------- Clarion DXZ785USB for the hu. got it for 225 shipped- (showing an exception on the tracking info- hope to find more out later) ---------------- roll of raammat coming monday. (getting some closed cell foam for my bday in January. i hope)

ok im going take some pictures now. the things i need to do yet are: 1. get the amp rack to hug the rear deck better. 2. fix rattles in the front doors. 3. fix rattles in/around the center console/dash 4. consider purchasing hybrid horn box design from thumper (if i can make the space im really interested in doing it for fun) 5. dress the rack up (wrap or paint) 6. sell the pg's to my bro and get some AA carbon mids and some tweets. (or mach 5 mids if i cant afford the AA's) 7.... tune tune tune
