no one can tell you that for sure. buy them and find out, or if there too expensive for you could diy them by melting pvc pipe (i think it was just plain pvc) on a mold or use mdf rings' with increasing diameters (and flaring them)...

haha ya, i dont really care what they look like, they just have to hold them big ass sls's to my door... ill be hitting them with a shit load of modeling clay aswell. (if i can find the good stuff, my previous attempt was in the middle of winter and the clay didnt hold to well )

ummmm sooo i failed at the pictures guys... sorry bout that... anyways, i did get some work done tho! i did the baffles for the doors, im 99% sure they will work haha. spacing is alittle tight, however, and i wouldn't consider myself a very good at that kinda stuff. all the glue is drying so ill be finishing up tomorrow. only 2 pic... first one is the bottem piece of the baffle. i had to drill holes in the door metal so i can bolt the baffle on. i finished the baffle but forgot to take a pic. (they look kinda ugly anyways... not my best work) next is a pic of my door panel's little deadening job. i later glued the factory stuff back on over it (i think its called jute?). but i forgot to take pics of that again... tomorrow i'll get out a real camera for the final assembly and everything.

me and my bro want to get my dad a new sub for fathers day. our budget is 50-60 bucks total. its for a 03 f150 super crew and i would like it to have a mounting depth small enough to get it under the rear seat. my dad also said he thought about making box for one that would go between the dash and center console up front. so im looking for something with a mounting depth of no more then let say 5" max. his listening preferences are mostly rock. power will be from a sony xplod amp i gave him 2 years ago that he is using to power a cheap clarion 12" that takes up too much space. the amp is probably good/clean for 300 rms at 4ohm bridged. the amp has a crossover switch, unfortunately, that is either full range or a lpf @ 80 hz... i was looking at some of the tang band subs, specifically the 6.5 or one of the 2 6x9 subs on partsexpress, i have a 5 dollar off coupon for an order of 50 or more by the way... anyone have some more idea's for what i should get my old man? im willing to buy used from a forum member aswell!

resistance, and it should read alittle under the nominal # for each coil. for example if the sub was a dual 4 ohm each coil should read a resistance of like 3.X ohm.

thanks m5, ill probably have the baffles made up for the 8s and the 3s will be installed tomorrow. ill let glue and stuff like that dry over night and stick the 8s in on thursday. wish me luck haha... i might need it
-
the hu might have individual gains (i didnt look it over at all), so that amp might work... my clarion can go from 0 to -20 db i believe, so a feature like that could limit the power enough to allow an amp like that... (just speculation here)

would you rather fix it yourself or buy it fixed?
lithium replied to cockeyed00's topic in General Fi
u might end up having to buy a recone and new basket from fi, as long as theres no damage to the motor i guess... -
crutchfield says there are 6.75" in the front doors, 6.5s in the back door and 6.75s in the rear deck

^^^^^^

good point, ill have to see if my bro is ok with paying alittle more or if he wants to go with something afew bucks cheaper
-
i had a 12" assassin for alittle while, deff a nice sub!

it seems someone or something is telling me that i must get these 8's in my doors now haha... yesterday my gf closed my door alittle hard and the old baffle holding my pg mid fell off... i think it got kicked (since i have no door panels on right now..) and the liquid nail just gave up haha... ill use real wood glue next time... so anyways im getting the speakers in Wednesday and then Thursday i plan to work on my amp rack and other odds and ends. another question to sls owners, how much power does it take to get these sls's moving? it looks like their suspension is pretty stiff.... and my amp, kicker 250.2 will only be putting out like 50-60 rms at 8 ohms... i could add a second 250.2 relatively cheap if i need too and to update my sls shipping damage ordeal, ill be receiving my new sls tuesday (today)!!!

i hope u budgeted for some serious deadening if you plan to run 2 21's... how much can bed liner be had for?

theres some products from second skin audio that you could look into if you want to go with a spray-on deadening. http://secondskinaudio.com/index.php

madisound took care of everything, sent out my new sls friday and ill be returning the damaged one to them. no progress today, but ill try to make a trip to HD or lowes for the 3 inch endcaps that will be used for the fullranges. ill probably slap them in soon and run the pg rsd mids for my midbass as i start to fab my new baffles.

just sent an email to [email protected], i hope i can get this resolved shortly. in person the damage doesn't look significant at all, just alittle bend in the outer flange. everything else lines up just fine... i thought the packaging could have been better when i opened the box but i was in a hurry to get to work and didn't think to check for little imperfection till i was taking the photos.
