I think my PS2 is finally broked. I tried turning it on a dozen times the other day but it wouldn't output video or sound. For the last year I've had to start it, then restart it and it would work fine. And it has also had a static noise issue if it wasn't sitting right. I guess it's time had come. I'd get a new PS3 but they can't play PS2 games, so that's worthless to me. I think I heard they're coming out with one that can though. the first "run" of ps3 did have backwards compatibility, HOWEVER pucking sony decided to screw everyone else over... you cant get a backwards compatible ps3 and i haven't see any plans for them to bring option back as far as i know... so id look in to ebaying a used ps2 real cheap and picking up a new ps3 slim. Only the 60 & 80 units were though. Don't get a 20 or 40. I got a 40, but I have no real desire to play any old games. If I do, I'll throw the PS2 back on. Not too hard. true but i wouldnt recommend buying a ps3 used off ebay w/o warrenty. and a ps2 could be had for 50 bucks tops... i dont have time to play much right now and all the games i do play are on the 360... my dad plays the fuck outa socom tho lol.

for a first active system do a 2 way. first option midbass - 8" or bigger, dedicated midbass (means it plays not much higher then ~300hz at max) now your required to find something that plays from 250-20k hz so now you need a full range 2 or 3 inch. ---------------------------- another option usual 2 way 6.5 or 7 inch mid and a tweeter. (i haven't seen an 8 play up high enough, and beaming would be an issue) i can plug ssa and mach 5 here and mention the mli 6.5 and match it with a seas tweeter.

ok based on what you've said id recommend you start with picking a cheap deadening product to cover the access holes (and the outer skin of the door), skip the tiles unless the company you choose sells them. id vote for raammat if you can afford a roll? maybe split a roll with a friend. (if you get a full roll you could do the doors and trunk, which would allow you to turn that box around saving you from walling off the trunk...) again, full coverage is not required. but sealing the doors is a must. when you seal the doors you must first cover the the larger holes with some kind of metal mesh product so the deadener can span across it. finally, on the closed celled foam, check the craft stores like you mentioned or try online (link). stick that under/ between plastic panels (and door panels) will decouple them from a vibrating surface and quiet the rattles. no real reason to go really "all out" with deadening in that car considering the shape it is in. -
how much voltage drop is too much?
lithium replied to ppiflat10s's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
im surprised you have that much drop on that little power... at idle do you have dimming? -
if you want to fit an 8" in the door id recommend something like what i did. which is use a peerless sls 8" and a 3 inch fullrange. but we need to know what your trying to get out of this set up first. edit: ignore my suggestion- im rushing abit... like i said we need more info

so how did you make the wire connectors?
-
i believe you fuse for how much the wire can handle. not sure though. check out the big three how-to in the amp/electrical section.
-
see if you can build out a baffle out to fit bigger drivers. my factory speakers size was 5.25 and i fit 8s im my doors w/ no cutting of the door metal..
-
did you have any filters on? what amp was it? was there any eq?

@ deadening with a low budget.. here is my idea, im no expert on this stuff tho- READ THIS FIRST!! (link) after seeing some of the problems with edead i wouldn't recommend it. but as far as process goes i would: 1) hit the outer skin with about 25% coverage with some CLD tiles (aka spl tiles from SS or the product from Sound deadener showdown, i wont get into politics here so it up to you to pick a product). 2) seal the access holes... lots of ways to do this. you could use some metal mesh and a cheap deadening mat, i've seen it done with plastic which was heated to the shape of the hole, fiberglass, sheet metal... etc 3) CDL tiles on inner door skin, 25 percent coverage. 4) find some closed cell foam at a local store to use to decouple the door card from the door metal. putting the foam in between stops vibrations from transferring in to the door card and making more noise. 5) if you can find a cheap source for mlv (mass loading vinyl, or anything that weights 1 pound per sq foot and isn't too thick or too ridged) get some. this would go between the door card and closed cell foam. this acts as a barrier, which prevents rattles and road noise from door from getting into the cabin. ---- very important step if you serious about this stuff. -
maybe try external ports, possibly thru the rear deck thru the speaker holes...
-
you probably have to make them out of copper pipe or something... 4/0 has to be ungodly thick..

no idea, pull the sub and inspect it. put a dmm on the coils, push the cone down and check for rubbing.. what that sub baught new? how long have u had it? has it always made that sound? need more info
-
ewww sounds like plastic slapping around.... probably isn't good. check the sub out...
-
i think he could if he wanted clarion dxz785usb HU 150, pair of mli ~100 (i think he already has them), tweets you can find for 50 bucks new or used...
-
swap the sub to rule out the amp having any issues.. the sub could be damaged... although i can really say for certain from the video, but the sub sounds fucked up... could be the mic on the camera....
-
the only reason i can think of as to why a big sub could be a problem is if you dont have the space for the correct box, or the box blocks off too much of the trunk and chokes the path to the cabin, or the trunk rattles too much and output is in that effect.... if you didn't catch on there, it all install dependent.. maybe you could get louder with a 10 depending on how bad or how well it is installed...

damn the day i have to wear a tie!!!! hasn't happen yet, 19 years and counting folks... (well i did have to wear a clip on for a job i had in highschool..)

I always stick with classics. Eddy M and Robin W. Lolo had some of them, lost all my music and stand up. I'll hafta get some of those back. Forgot all about Eddie. lewisblack, dave chappelle, george carlin, brian (or bryan) regan, johnoliver, gabriel inglesias, frank caliendo (football fans might likethis guy alot, does a great john madden) not in any specific order.. Chappelle, check, Carlin check however i need more, Regan a big check there, and Caliendo check. Never heard too much Lewis Black or Grabriel. Ill check em out. Had to get the essential, Mitch Hedberg of course. Got some Joe Rogan (check that out, really funny) and an album by Daniel Tosh. THe things that guy says are some of the worsth things I have ever heard out of someones mouth. I feel like I should go to church after listening to what he says and laughing. Lol if you like carlin you'll love lewis black, imho he's the best satirist alive. grabriel is just a funny fat latino haha. ill check out the one you've listed too. i like demetri martin too. i got Regan tickets for a show in nov. !!!!!! lewis black was also amazing live.
